The trust system is one of those flawed elitist systems with the illusion of fairness but all it ends up doing is elevating the biased while silencing dissent. It’s not a reward.
I think they can change the limits for different game forums based on how busy they are. They had to knock down the requirements for D3 forums at one point since there just wasn’t enough content to make it feasible to attain TL3. So using the criteria set for other games may or may not be applicable to what they have set for D2R, and they may change it over time.
It never prevents you from posting, so not sure silencing dissent is accurate, but it really is a screwy system where it seems like an almost reasonable idea in principle but then the execution and reality just doesn’t always make sense.
Correct. They can adjust the limits based on how busy the forum is. Overwatch was the first game Blizz put on the Discourse software and MVP WyomingMist wrote up the guides based on that. D3 did lower the TL 3 requirements for that because there were just not the same post volume as OW or WoW.
I don’t know what this one is set to. There are also some sites that are white listed and can be linked even without TL3. That was not the case when the guides were written, but it is valid now.
No. You are not “silenced” by having to earn the right to post clickable links or images. The previous Blizzard forums did not allow those options for ANYONE except Blizzard staff. I could not link someone to the Nvidia site for drivers for example. The Discourse software is actually a lot more friendly than Blizzard’s own software was.
Not forever. If you get suspended you can eventually get it dropped from the Trust level consideration. I don’t know how many months it takes though. I just know they did add some sort of forgiveness feature that lets folks eventually learn it if they don’t get suspended again.
You are TL 2. The link below is to your .json file which shows your settings. Some are only available to YOU to view, such as your location. Others anyone can read such at the trust levels.
