MrllamaSC was just speedrunning, now more laid back.
I would already be half way on my third character to finish Act2.
Remember, the general alpha testing pool starts at 7AM Pacific tomorrow. We’re not counted out yet.
They just do that for every game, streamers are free advertisement can’t do much about that. If I was blizzard I woud gonna do the same.
Venruki as Blizzard employee, they get every beta.
I’m just finding dozens of streamers who got alpha keys and most of them don’t know anything at even the most basic level. I even saw some (probably trolling but who knows?) say D2 remaster feels like a POE clone, while promoting POE… Like what the in actual F.
I’m not sure why people are up in arms about streamers getting access; put aside the “I want alpha” emotion for a moment (it’s legit and I’m not immune, just sayin), and think about this:
Getting popular streamers who aren’t necessarily D2 players will expose the game to a larger group if people. More eyes mean more sales. More sales means more revenue. More revenue means more resources for the game.
The more players we have the more the game endures. Today is really just for show. Tomorrow the work begins.
Except for me it seems.
Streamed Diablo 2, same account since WoW launched 17+ years ago(alpha player), pre-purchased Diablo 2: Resurrected minutes after the announcement but…you know? Screw me I guess.
People that never played D2 are in the alpha. Turned my stomach when one of the streamers said “This will be my first time playing Diablo 2”.
Your dad looks like you!
But yes, its kind of crazy. I don’t watch streamers but the people i watched… had a very limited understanding of the game. People who had played diablo and make comments on it. Wish I had just bit the bullet and started streaming despite my ISP being terrible.
I don’t mind that there are noobs trying the game its just yea… might have to deal with people comparing this to POE as if POE were first.
This is one of those odd side effects of getting older. I read Tolkien long before there were movies and such. It was EPIC and I have read it every 2 years or so since.
Then I get folks who are a generation younger who finally see the movies (or rarely read it) and inform me that LotR ripped of X new-ish books. It hurts my brains. No silly young one! LotR came FIRST.
Part of life I suppose.
I don’t mind that they are giving access to a wide variety of folks - including streamers who don’t normally play it. That is honestly great exposure and marketing.
Even for the test group tomorrow, they want a huge diversity. Brand new folks, day one D2 players, pros like MrLlama, rusty vets like me who are out of practice.
I really really want to see that new generation fall in love with the game that brought me into gaming and helped me discover a fantastic hobby. A hobby that led to lifelong friends as well. I hope they like it as much as I did when I first experienced it.
I say welcome new players! Just…stay off my lawn ok?
I agree… Totally made a thread on this a few moments ago… its absolutely ludacris that 10k andy streamers get early access and people who’ve played the game for 20 years and have owned multiple copies of it get shafted.
You are not entitled to access. You were not “shafted” because nobody owed you anything. They don’t know how much you played or how much you spent. They also don’t care. The general Alpha population is random. See your other thread for a full answer.
And that’s the issue right there. Thanks for the confirmation.
It might be an issue for YOU. It is not an issue for them. They want new players in Alpha. They want old players in Alpha. They want a very wide variety.
YOU want it limited to a small sub set. Blizzard does not agree with you.
Yup. That’s the issue.
No we just want to test and make sure the game we’ve all played for 20 years doesn’t get absolutely butchered by a bunch of zoomers who want everything handed to them in video games these days… look at diablo 3… if they let all the zoomers give their input, d2r is gonna turn into d3…
I don’t think you understand. They are releasing the game with almost no changes. Those few that are happening such as shared stash have already been discussed in detail. Alpha won’t change that.
Any major changes, if they ever happen, will be down the road a long ways.
And I don’t think you understand… How can someone who’s never played the game in their entire life be a good judge on even the visual changes… for example, the color of frozen enemies… someone who’s never played the game in their entire life might think it looks fine… someone who’s played it for 20 years knows its not and oversaturated… little things like that, placement of new visuals etc… Someone who’s never played the game won’t be able to nitpick the little things that make the aesthetic feel the same.
It’s marketing, don’t take it to heart. We never mattered in the first place.
I do understand. I think you are focusing purely on the tiny details - which is cool and certainly is valid! Blizzard also wants to know though if the new graphics are pleasing to those who are not as experienced as you.
The Alpha is actually awesome in that you can toggle the old graphics and the new ones with a single seamless button press and compare every single tiny thing as you go.
