This is still a major issue to me. PVP and the interaction with another player should be consensual. Greifing and unwanted interaction is still a highly unwanted mechanic by many. With the recent issues at Blizzard this should be a top issue.
with skill bugs, always miss bug, unsommon bug, trap bug and more pressing issues this shouldnt be a top issue at all, because its not an issue.
There are games that use a threat/hostility system, there isnt anything wrong with it.
There are ways to reduce griefing potential by other players(level restrict games as a major one)
I see a lot of you here loves bringing your lvl 90 characters and ruining lvl 20s party that doing Tomb run and being 'he hu ha! in your miserable tiny room. I respect your weird fetishism
I will reiterate until this gains more tractions. The unwanted interaction with other players is disgraceful and should not be allowed.
PVP is part of the game. Put password on your game if you dont want be killed by others. If you are too spoiled for d2 pvp system then dont play it.
You would lose that bet. But keep having nightmares about hostile pk anyway.
Imagine u actually open a cry-thread just because u got pked in a beta by a lvl 26 with same crap gear like yours
Apart from that hostile/pk is part of an open world, which makes you feel like you are interacting with other people instead of hanging yourself up in your own little bubble, it will NOT happen often in the final game. Its just very few guys who want to have fun when some noobs cry cuz of they are not able to make a town portal in 30 seconds to be safe…
Please STOP DESTROYING THE BEST GAME with your stupid “ideas” just because in other games you get everything for free and you don’t have to exert yourself a bit.
Again, this thread is correct. PVP needs to be mutual… Enough with the childish need to attack defenseless, low level and undergeared players. Greifing is not consensual and ruins the game for ignorant players that want to play in public games. Enough with this inappropriate system. Its a simple change to make… Make it happen.
As for those wanting this system, why would you want to kill people in an honorless way instead of a true battle. Get over your ego and do the right thing. This is inappropriate plain and simple.
This is why Jesus invented password protected games.
See my above comment. People shouldn’t have to password while in public games. This system is inappropriate and needs to go.
If you don’t like it or can’t handle the way the game plays then I’d suggest either:
- Not playing
- Adjust your playstyle to fit your environment
I don’t know why all of you entitled people feel like everything should bend and change to what you want it to be.
I would suggest that I comment here to get it changed because the system is wrong. Give me one good reason to not have a handshake. You can’t. Your ego would be broken if you couldn’t attack the defenseless. You are sick and need help.
I’ve literally never hunted low level groups.
Plus PKing has always been a part of the meta. Not just high levels picking on low levels… but increasing the overall sense of danger in high level runs.
Removing this removes a key component of the game and should not be done just because some individuals in the highly vocal minority thinks “the system is wrong” and should be changed because they don’t like it.
i.e.: Entitlement.
We only PK’d and gold camped people who “did us dirty” or “talked trash” back in the day.
It was the “Wild Wild West” mechanic. A lawless land where justice is more subjective and less objective. It was a welcomed feature, but it was not the golden standard.
If you were getting PK’d over and over, you definitely knew why.
BS. You just said that everyone could use a work around for this meta you suggest. Its just an inconvenience to the uneducated, its touching a player without consent, its not difficulty, it breeds bots and and people who like to stroke their egos by bullying the weak. There is no reason to have a system that allows any of the above to occur.
The call to turn off this system is a lot more than the vocal minority, there is 900 replies to this thread and most of them have concerns with this system. The system is inappropriate and needs to go.
Did you really just say “touching a player without consent”?
Good lord, 2021 is a very sad place to be.
Also, 900 replies to a single thread means nothing when there are projected to be in the upwards of 1 million+ players world-wide. Get some perspective.
I used a different term before and got banned. It is still valid. And you are correct it is 2021. We do not have programmers who come in to work drunk, execs that expect a little extra from their subordinates and we do not engage people in activities that they do not wish to partake in. Our social norms have changed and video games have become part of that norm.
This game was actually released in 2000. When the forums opened, this same thread occurred daily. That vocal minority, as you say it, was speaking up then. And you are correct, the egomaniacs of the time were not listening. Times change, social norms change. I am proud to be part of the minority that is speaking up. If people spoke up even sooner and louder, we would not even have issues like this in 2021.
I’m glad you are actually admitting that you are in the highly vocal minority.
Also your logic here is absolutely ridiculous. It’s a video game. If you don’t like what’s in it then hit the bricks and go play something else. The vast majority of us are super pumped and ready to venture back out into Sanctuary without complaints or ultimatums.
I am glad you want to hit sanctuary. I am pumped too. Grew up with this game. We can change stash sizes, we can make the amazon ugly and change all the cinematics. I don’t think adding a player handshake is too much to ask when it stops so many issues from occurring. People want to be tested and play a game, not greifed and chased around public games. I think you underestimate the amount of vocal minority you are talking, remember this is a beta forum that has been over for a month. Be part of the solution and dont push toxic behavior.
You saying “be a part of the solution” requires me to believe there is a problem.
There isn’t. And you aren’t going to be able to convince me that there is.
