Durial is impossible

5 man team just repeat wiped on him. How on earth are you supposed to be able to take those hits. Im playing a tank paladin and I cant even take hits. We lemminged him to death because we dropped a TP in the room, and one outside the room. So we would run through to the exterior room, run in grab our stuff, run through the portal and kept circling. That is not how you are to fight the boss! lol

Tips would be nice

Very simple and quick tip. Thawing potions grant cold resist and stack. Drink as many as you can before the fight. But yes, very hard fight the first time.

Here is a nice video tutorial for you.

More seriously, you will want stuff like open wounds and crushing blow on the melees, or just higher levels for casters. Spamming thawing potions can help as well.

My friend and I noticed an issue with this fight on PS4. When re-entering Durial’s area after dying (Using TP’s or entering through the broken wall) we found that Durial was able to move around and hit our chars before the loading screen would disappear. We noticed this in other areas as well, but was most notable in this fight in particular. This resulted in our characters being insta killed before the loading screen animated.

That was something that got reported a lot in the beta and blizzard said they were going to fix it. Maybe there are problems with it in multiplayer though.

i don’t think thawing potions stack anymore, but it would be wise to use one before fighting him.

um. for melee duriel is mainly about your potions…as a tank, you have to be aware of that. other melees should as well.

This is going to be a big tip for all classes, considering its about potions.

Pick up all the rejuvs you come across. Don’t leave them on the ground. I know, it can be a pain to organize on your belt, but its worth it in the end.

Don’t use the small rejuvs if you can. Transmute them into full rejuvs. and fill at least 1 belt slot with them, JUST IN CASE. :stuck_out_tongue: But still, an INSTANT FULL HEAL is really nice to have, especially for something like Duriel, no?

On the other hand, my sorc took him him down in first try without using thawing potions. The recipe for sorc’s is simple. Find or buy a staff/wand with Blaze on it. Use static charge in the first second your merc lasts, then run in circles casting blaze and jug potion(s) if needed, which shouldn’t be many. Easy boss

They said that they “fixed” it by making you invincible during load times… …which is not a good solution since the enemy will be on top of you and hitting you as soon as the loading ends. You’ll still take hits without being able to do anything about it, and against Duriel that often means death for the ill-prepared or squishy characters.

duriel normal is the hardest boss in the game for the ungeared lol, he destroyed me pretty hard as a auto attack barb. although i heard necro got it pretty rough on diablo too

he’s hardest on a zon imo.

he’s a stat check for melee… so a good spetum would be the most ideal to fight him at that lvl(no decoy or valk at that lvl). i suppose javs would be good too, but as a bowa… man idk, he’s always been hard as bowa.
I shoot him with ice arrow but i only have one point into it. all i had to shoot him with anyways lol. exploding arrow is too mana hungry, but if you hvae a REALLY sht bow its always an option.

actually had a great stag bow by then this time around, but still, there are USUALLY no good bows. not to find anyways. not while you’re playing amazon lmfao. you have to make do.

as bowa I normally sink all my points into exploding arrow until I get to immo, then once I get to 30 I start sinking points into freezing arrow… then i switch back and forth between freezing and immo. using both skills in a rotation. immo has a short cooldown that you have to get used to, but it’s really fun. exploding arrow is also good for any cold immunes.

I respec once I get faith, i don’t bother with any of the mid-tier bows.

I just killed him easily at level 24 with my hammerdin paladin. I was actually surprised how fast he fell. I drunk a thawing potion beforehands, and a couple of rejuv potions during the fight. I didn’t even need to go back to town once. My mercernary didn’t make it, though…

Sometimes my strategy as a bowazon is just to put my gold in my shared stash so I don’t lose anything on death, and just accept that I’ll die 30 times lol.

Side note : looks like they changed how death takes your gold in D2R? If I remember correctly, death didn’t take gold from the stash at all in the original (at least it doesn’t with Plugy), but it does take gold from your personal stash now (easy fix is to put your gold in a shared tab, though it’s a little bit annoying because the game then considers you have no money and can’t buy potions / scrolls / etc - I always have to manually retrieve 5000 gold or so to be able to buy some) …

i might have just given the best hidden secret of all time. :stuck_out_tongue: jk take it. everyone should know how to play an elemental bowazon.

dude i put my gold in my stash every time I go back to town. but get this, I’m HC, so it doesn’t even matter.

Thawing potions still stack, you get 30s more freeze immunity for every potion IIRC.

naw. pretty sure it was 5 minutes. 30 secs is crazy. nobody would do that.

u have no shared stash in hc? i heard gold doesnt drop there

?? If we die, we’re dead. We can’t play anymore, we have to start a new character.

which can use the stashed gold… point?

imo you should be over leveled before duriel. i dont leave act2 until im 24. not only does this make duriel less imposing, you should be able to plow through A3 at that point
