Does This Run on Windows 7?

See title. Will this game run on Windows 7? I’m not really interested in upgrading to 10 if I don’t have to.

sera devido a versão do sistema operacional? aqui é WIN 7 Ultimate 64bits

No, Diablo 2 Resurrected will not run on anything less than Windows 10. The reason is because of DirectX 12, which is not natively available on anything less than Windows 10.

If you have a DirectX 12 compatible card (GTX 600 series or Radeon 7000 series or higher) and are still running Windows 7 or 8, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free. (Nvidia GTX 660/AMD Radeon HD 7850 are listed as the minimum cards for D2:R)

To upgrade your system to Windows 10, visit the following website:

 Copy this link and put it in your browser.

Argh… “Sorry you can’t put links in your post.”

it’s actually because Microsoft support for windows 7 stopped Jan 14, 2020 they in fact did port directx 12 to windows 7 in 2019 specifically for world of warcraft when they first added it because it was added with limited support for specific games.

That was game specific DX12 support, not native OS wide support. Two different things.

Updated above post.

Windows 7 ain’t that great and dinosaurs walked the earth back then. Time to upgrade bro.

Just wait until they update it to require win11 and people go ballistic

Is Windows 10 free now?

If you own Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free.

So I guess the Windows 10 disc I bought is now pointless. :joy: Thank you for the good information.

What should I do with my Windows 10 disc if I can’t return it? Maybe I should save it for my next custom PC build because I will need a new PC in 1-2 years?

I’m still using Windows 7.

Sure… Also, Windows 11 will be free for Windows 10 systems, as long as the hardware is Windows 11 ready. (8th gen Intel or higher, AMD Ryzen 2000 or higher, UEFI/SecureBoot/TPM 2.0 all enabled)

Unpopular opinion: People willingly using dead os should not get any kind of support.

What a useful first post on the forums. :astonished:

People are mad about launch issues, ignore them. They’re looking for ways to vent their frustrations.

I had the game running (sort of) on Windows 7 as well. I was killing the little red guys around the den of evil for about 10-15 minutes with no issues. Then I ran into a blue screen of death. I noticed my graphics card drivers could use an update. I’m going to try that then try the game again. Maybe it’s my system. I don’t understand all the hate for Blizzard.

if not i’ve got a version that’ll run on Windows 95

Interesting thing is, the installation directory contains .dll files for playing on Windows 7…

DirectX IL Converter DLL (dxilconv7.dll)
Direct3D 12 Runtime for Windows 7 (d3d12.dll)

Here are the .dll properties (image, remove spaces in link)

 Why include ‘Direct3D 12 Runtime for Windows 7’ if not planning to support it? Artifacts are usually removed if they are not going to be used. :man_shrugging:

EDIT: The checksum on dxilconv7.dll is incorrect, might prevent windows from loading it
