There are games with it already. This isn’t in the spirit of the game. Auto gold pickup isn’t the same thing really. The changes with cow king and pindle were things they grabbed from highly popular mods like plugy so it was something the single player population used heavily. Ploot is only really popular amongst the people who never really played this game.
More fairly than it’s generated one. There are certainly games, I’m sure, where one person gets most if not all of the items. With ploot, at least others get a chance at something.
Having a large player base doesn’t mean it’s the better game… D2 was the grandfather that made this genre great. If you’re talking D2R numbers (because I’m not going to your link) what did you expect? D2 is a whirlpool of nostalgia for millions. It’s why I am currently playing it. Objectively POE is superior in most ways.
Excuse me sir, I played the crap out of this game when it first came out and I still want ploot.
Everyone gets a “/players 1” worth of loot and the only “bonus” you get for playing in a group is XP.
I dont think its a terrible idea. Just would take some getting used to. I am open for changes but we have to keep the original game intact with ploot on the side or as a separate mode like Hc.
Yeah and it’s a lot easier for a hammerdin who’s standing in the middle of the crowd to pick up the best drops first in FFA. A ploot option would make it so ranged classes could maintain their range without having to run in and out and hope they don’t get one shot.
But again, if somebody likes the current free-for-all method, they can continue to do it that way all day. This affects them in no way.
Listen man. Here’s the real reason we can’t have ploot.
It’s will ruin the game. It will ruin the economy.
Is that what you want? Is it?
Stay mad.

Contested loot is a stupid idea. The whole point is to kill and get to the next game ASAP. No one wants to sit for a minute with their dick in their hand waiting to see if they got the loot or not.
How? I simply follow you in the game and the system gives methe loot. Participation medal.
Diablo 2 is and always has been about the grind if you mak loot anything like d3 then enjoy your d2r experience as many including my self didn’t purchase it hoping for massive changes, we purchased it because we STILL played d2 LOD legacy and wanted the fresh start and updated graphics, that what they said they were giving us.
If they start changing alot of stuff it’s no longer the same game we spent 2 decades playing in which time we have tryed many different ARPGs and none of them were the same so we went back to d2 time and again.
In short we were promised during production of d2R that would be minimal changes so we bought d2r, you change that and we would of bought it to begin with.
How will it ruin the economy? You might be thinking of instanced loot. The number of items will remain exactly the same in the ploot model.
For the casual gamer … maybe.
On the other hand, for all those who raid at a high level, the only thing it did was ruin their experience.
Add the problem of ilvl.
You have a ring ilvl 250 and you win a 255? You want to trade it because it has Mastery / Crit and you want Haste / Vers.
No no no no no.
Blizzard decides that having higher ilvl is better.
And so you lose a piece of gear that can be used by someone in your group.
Taking WoW as an example is a mistake.
I know a guy with over 60k played games in world of tanks and still having tomato stats. If you played so much and stil lwant ploot this proves how bad you are at the game and only want to dumb it down to your noob d3 level.
So you are one of the people that leech public games 24/7 and hope for loot? Magic find is for when you aren’t doing the level grind. Stop trying to magic find in public games.
Actually here’s one reason we shouldn’t have ploot.
Imagine a bot. Now imagine 8 bots that work in tandem. That means your botter will have 8 bots working in tandem getting 8 helpings of loot per kill on top of players8.
Checkmate, atheists.
Stay oversentive cupcake.
Personally, I think most people who want ploot only want it because they can’t emotionally handle seeing an item drop and not getting it. Have less of a fragile ego.
Actually I don’t play in public games these days because I got real tired of the loot grab back in the day and hated it back then.
