Diablo II Resurrected is a ___ REMASTER ___

That was exactly how I felt when we heard that a Diablo 2 Remaster was coming.

I thought people should be overjoyed to hear this good news

But it seems that some will change how Diablo 2 was like a game.

Now they want to copy things from Diablo 3 like Personal loot, Auto Gold Pick, Higher Drop Rates, Stackable items etc.

Blizzard wanted to give Diablo 2 fans something great, so they decided to make a refurbished game with better graphics.

Diablo 2 is a masterpiece, that’s why it’s a refurbished game with better graphics, because fans have been waiting for this for many years.

Do not change what makes the game masterpiece, change that and this game is going to be a totally garbash game as Diablo 3.

Now that I hear all these awful ideas, I get a feeling of the game is going to be a huge disaster Then the waiting time for a Remaster is completely wasted of time.

A few thoughts on this:

I mentioned in a few posts that I think personal loot is a good thing, and it doesn’t really affect me, since I play SP or closed games, but I think it encourages group play, or, more specifically, shared loot discourages open games. Look, I’m sure a lot of folks are willing to die on the hill of group loot is the only way to play, and maybe it is better, but I can tell you that it was one of the bars for me back in 2001 and it will be 20 years later.

And in truth, we don’t really need to change it, because the option of offline play or closed games does exist. But I’d really like to try an 8 player game; what’s it like to have Necro curses and pally buffs and Barb shouts all at the same time? I’ve soloed Hell on /players 8 in SP, but man it’d be a lot faster with 7 more players! And maybe I can get a group of players together to do just that. But it’s not always possible, and isn’t it a good thing to have more players engaged in the game? How long do you think someone will keep jumping in to help out on a Baal run and always end up with a blue helm and a few mana pots?

But I could be wrong. Maybe for some people it’s just not Diablo enough with personal loot. Like I said it’s just an opinion, but I think we’re a better community when we disagree without toxicity.

Beyond the shared/larger stash, I wouldn’t change anything else either. Don’t screw with drop rates, don’t nerf anything, don’t change loot tables. There’s a reason D2 is such a great game. It offers you a challenge every time you log in. You’re always looking for another rare item, or the things you need to craft something godly. And boss fights and elites are hard, especially when you’re untwinked.

I’ve said it before as well, that D2 can be many things to many people, and it might be difficult to find a plurality in any given issue. I just can’t wait to play it in the modern setting. In the meanwhile, the original game is as fresh as ever in some ways. Good luck to you all, and may your drops ever be gold & green!

Sounds like you missed out on something that was literally amazing for one of the dumbest reasons I have ever heard of. That’s not being Toxic that’s just me being honest. Even if Global Loot made you shy away from 8 player games you could have just resolved to have fun in an 8 player game and forget about the loot. That hayday of 8 player diablo 2 fun might have never come again, and you missed out on it for what out of greed for items?

I rarely if ever had a situation where I was an active participant in battle and got nothing. In fact more often then not I would get the items not need them and pass them off to the other players who did. And I never used bot programs to snatch loot.

Just for clarification, honesty can be very toxic, in fact the very reason people don’t always say what they mean is to avoid toxicity!

But to your point, no it wasn’t out of greed at all; I raided in World of Warcraft for over 10 years without personal loot, and never had an issue, and never cared about loot. The reason was because there was structure to it, and if that structure was in place for D2 I likely would have embraced it.

But in the interest of honesty, the Bnet community really killed realm play for me back then. Online interaction was in its infancy, and if you watched chat for a few minutes, it was hard to not get discouraged. So much negativity and toxicity. And the official forums were much the same if less vulgar. And a few websites I went to for information were exercises in abuse.

So I stayed focused on SP, kept reading and learning about the game, found a great community at Diabloiinet, and didn’t ever really bother with realm play.

But that was then, this is now. I’m an experienced WoW and D3 player, with a better understanding beyond the surface trolls.

And as I said, if I went into a game and it was agreed upon that loot gets rolled on or based on class etc, I’m fine with it, even if I do get the blue helm and mana pots. But no, I’m not going to invest my time and energy in downing content for someone to grab all the loot and leave the game. Just because they can.

But again, as I said, since we have SP and closed games, we don’t need to change it. And I have really had a great time playing D2 even without the group experience. Which I hope I can enjoy with good people one day soon!

Diablo 2 had a party system, and a Hostile Function for PVP that is about as much structure as was ever needed.

Player one says hey wanna group up and kill diablo?
Player two says sure lets do it.
Player three says yeah but I am looking for X Item Can I have it?
The other Players all agree to let player three have said item if it drops.

All players join the same party. Multiple parties can formed in a single game

It was really that simple. even 12 year old kids could do it and they did all the time.

A Terrible loss on your part imo

You may well be right, and yes, as I said, being new to the experience was a factor in my approach. All I’m really saying is I’m not going to jump into a random public game, any more than I’d have joined a pug WoW raid without knowing the specifics before hand. By those parameters, global loot is fine.

How is it fun to play a loot-based game and resolve not to get loot? That sounds unfun.

Thing is, they are not touching D2 in its current state, unlike the mistake they made with Reforged.

That means that everyone can still play D2 until their hearts are content, it does not impact the negative nancy’s at all.

Because he specifically stated he always wanted to see what party tactics were like but didn’t. However Upon Digging a little deeper apparently the reason he didn’t party was because he felt the community was toxic and full of trolls…

You are weird, Pug mmo Groups are fun and I met some of the best players in those pug groups which eventually formed amazing clans. I also Got Recruited through several Pug Groups after I wound up in a clan Run by pure random chance.

I feel like you have a fundamental fear of being judged based on your performance which prevents you from taking chances. That has nothing to do with Diablo 2 and everything to do with your personality as a human being.

The only thing I can tell you is you have to throw caution to the wind sometimes and have fun with a Pug Run or a Random Public game. Yes sometimes they are horrible and terrible experiences but they can also be amazing experiences where you meet new people and form new bonds of friendship that can last decades.

All your doing by avoiding those things is cheapening your overall experience, and removing any chance of forming those special bonds.

What? It was fun for so many for 20yrs.

The point I was making earlier is D2 in its current state is 20 years with a solid player base even without QoL improvement. D3 will never have the following D2 has so why make these changes. I don’t disagree with the minor tweaks devs have already made, and I’m not opposed to some of the model tweaks people are asking for but it is a remaster of D2 not a remake…or a way to bridge D2 and D3 into the same kind of game…

You’re so right on every aspect .
Thumbs up man, i really hope they don’t change anything else,
im even against shared chests or bigger chests.

I think its dumb to duel and kill the guy on hardcore but he gets to keep all his sorb/extra gear for different class fights in that shared stash instead of loosing it.

Been playing for 21 Years, i probably have 30000 hours and personal loot never crossed my mind and i think its the dumbest change idea i’ve ever heard.

This is not world of warcraft.
This is not d3 (which sucked so bad).
If you wan’t all this crap added go play Mods like Pd2/POD/Median XL.

I don’t get why people are so obsessed by the loot, 99% of the time YOU WILL BE FARMING IN YOUR OWN PRIVATE GAMES ANYWAYS.

Only way to get to see loot drop is in pub baal runs, wich you probably wont be running much, or if you do youll have a circle of buddies that will run them privately eventually and will mostly just give you the loot if you actually need it anyways.

Two really undergeared players may run Pits and trav and CS together to MF but thats pretty rare and obviously you wont run with a complete stranger, I’ve done that with friends before and we would just write everything down on a note pad and use what we can use and then split the profit of the other items found to buy other peices we need. It ain’t rocket science , this is a core element of the game.

This remaster is for the purists, period.
If you don’t like it , find another game and stop trying to ruin the gaming experience we cherish and love.

Vicarious Visions Said that they are very careful about changing things in Diablo 2. We’ll see then. They have already made sure that you have Auto Gold Pick Up. So this is starting to get uncertain. If they Importer personal Loot and touch the Drop Rates.

Then, they have already ruined so much that many of Diablo 2 fans do not even bother to buy this game. It will be called : An another failure like Diablo 3

Those who have already pre-ordered will refund

My suggestion is:
Don’t change what made the game perfect.

Thanks for the free personality observation, saved me from years of therapy. Tell me, why do you feel it necessary to tell me what kind of a person you think I am, and why should I care?

In response to your post above; I didn’t just think the community was full of trolls, it was full of trolls. Just like most of the internet was, and still is, basically. In one half hour stretch, I watched the chat go by with a lot of stuff I didn’t understand being new to the game, but a near constant stream of your mother jokes, constant insults and childish back and forth. Not to mention the guy who named his character after a concentration camp.

So yeah, my initial experience with Battle Net was not positive. But I learned there was more to it when I started playing WoW. I joined tons of groups for dungeons and usually had good experiences. I was referring to a very specific situation that I don’t like; situations that have the potential for unfairness.

Because if you knew me, and you don’t, is that it’s not about performance anxiety but about an even playing field. There was really no need for you to make this personal, but maybe it makes you feel better, I don’t know.

I tell you the reason: people like to farm xp in chaos and baalruns run by bots and are now want the loot as well.

I farmed on my own or preferable in group of friemds. Never had to worry about the loot.

Next is: everyone gets a torch.

They are going to have a real awakening when they realize theyll have to either run it themselves or actually pay hahaha.

Can’t wait to play the game without bots and mh and hacks.

It’ll be so amazing.

This… The call for personal loot all seem to echo this. In any “Act 3 Walk” game or similar I have played where I was not underleveled I don’t think I had major issues getting loot. The only time you struggle from a looting concept is if some character significantly outgears the content making it easier for them.

I think those who call for it don’t really understand how loot drops work in D2. You cannot implement a personal loot system without then also changing how loot drops or you would likely create a very unsatisfying game.

OP is correct. I am shocked to see so many people demanding that changes be made at launch, not even suggesting but demanding given the game is a re-master. I thought even those who want things changed would be like-minded given the communication so far that we would start somewhere extremely close to the original D2.

The content of the changes requested is strange too. People want to overhaul concepts that are very core to the game.

You could’ve simply said that you didn’t think my experience offered a valid basis for my argument, and left it at that.

This part is interesting; you say that I judged the D2 community too harshly with my small experience, and yet, you’ve assumed my entire personality from just a few of my posts about one part of a game…is that really any different? I could write assumptions about your character as well, but it’s not my style, and that’s not really the point of this thread, which I’m afraid I’ve derailed long enough.

Feel Free, I am well aware of my faults and Confident in myself.
