Instead of my usual long winded walls of text, I’ll leave you a rather simple warning instead. One, that is easy to understand by those, who can’t follow a train of thought through several paragraphs.
D4 will be a cashgrab. Basically something between Lost Ark and Diablo Immortal, but it’s made for even more of a casual crowd… and it’s going to be a worse game as a result.
Even if it sells well initially, it will retain players in a similar fashion to the above mentioned games Lost Ark and Diablo Immortal… as in, it’s not going to have a large, active player base, that no lifes it past the first 6 months… and even that would be a bit of a fluke, more a result of the Blizzard brand and the reputation of the previous games, rather than the quality of the product itself.
The only redeeming quality of D4 so far is its hardcore mode. PVP is permanent death. World Bosses with devastating strikes, tough dungeon bosses like The Butcher. To have an end game hardcore character in D4 is a worthy achievement and sounds like fun.
So it’s going to be a casual game, but at the same time, it sounds like there is potential for something more.
d4 = DoA imo. just a bad game. the people who say they enjoy it. are the types of people just looking for anything new to be apart of. and they will be fine with tossing it away after a short period of time to look for the new shiny thing. that’s about it. you’re right
It will probably be somewhat of a crash grab.
It will most likely be some under-developed weak gameplay that is super repetitive as in everything is static or the same. A lame cop out rather than making a good game and capitalizing on the diablo franchise.
Giving Acti-Trash money is your own choice, just IMO a poor one. They’ll keep making very watered down, basic, trash on repeat if you keep paying them to do it. If you were to pay me a million to paint your house, and I could do a crap job over and over and you’d keep paying me millions I’d probably take advantage of that too.
Diablo 4 however will sell well. It will have a large dedicated player base. Maybe not to the same level of the biggest games out there, but there are simple minded people everywhere who love simple minded games. They will no-life and play it on repeat for years despite all the flaws. And others will come back everytime they patch in some hot garbage to make up for what they released.
You severely underestimate how dull the average game is. Truly watered down gameplay? But does it look pretty? Weak content and no real end game? But is it new?
They’re going to sell enough in week 1, to justify the planning phase of D5.
yeah most likely lol, there’s not a lot that stands out.
Their marketing focuses on World Bosses which shows that they don’t have much to showcase. They changed dungeon bosses from 10% to 60% spawn chance because people complained their dungeons were too boring and lackluster.
If I was marketing for D4, I would create a trailer for iconic uniques. I would show the legendary Windforce, emphasize on its rarity, and play a cinematic of a rogue picking it up and then showcase gameplay of the rogue slaughtering with it in PvE and PVP.
These guys just don’t know how to market their own game.
Create a trailer for The Stone Of Jordan, emphasize on it’s rarity, like a graphic with a 1:3000 drop chance, show it empowering the player in some way. I would also show an alternative use for the SoJ by sacrificing, selling, or imbuing it it in some way for an alternative chance at something.
If they did little things like this their fanbase would be hyped 10x more. Yet all they can do is show World Bosses for the 1000th time.
ya but they don’t want things to have terrible drop chance like d2, they want everyone to have everything like d3, hence the trading limitations. (another terrible thing about the game)
i understand they’re trying to push cheaters out but the way they are going about it also makes the entire experience less fun for every player…
so to the cheaters - STOP RUINING EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE ELSE BECAUSE YOU’RE DOGWATER AT LIFE.
I know rares and some aspects of Legendaries are tradable. Uniques aren’t tradable which could possibly be a good thing, but only if uniques require grinding and farming to find. If everyone gets to have a Shako or a SoJ or a Windforce with little effort, then the games gauranteed dog s***.
Let’s just compare it to trading cards like Pokemon, Yuguioh, etc. If everyone back in the day could get a Charizard or a Blue Eyes White Dragon, then what would be the point in buying a pack of cards? The game would be pointless. But some how these devs just don’t seem to understand that. And they’re lucky to be getting free info from me because I don’t have to give them anything.
Then why do the lot of you guys spend so much time on the Blizzard forums complaining about the games? If they are in fact as bad as depicted by the vast minority. Quit buying the games, and quit the forums and go find something else to do with your abundant free time.
limited trading is still just… a bad thing. i know it’s like instanced and then certain items or whatever… no thanks. there’s just too many things about d4 that make me facepalm already.
I don’t buy their games. D2R was for the nostalgia, but I gave up on the long ago. As seen with their D2R updates they clearly lack the talent that understands what it is to make a great game anymore.
But I still play D2R because at it’s core it still has all the good concepts of the games past. And the reason we post is to counter brain dead idiots who are so starved for entertainment they’d buy anything from having only their voice heard.
why are you posting d4 threads on the d2 forums instead of the d4 forums.
and btw its not a cash grab. Immortal was a cash grab, d4 isn’t immortal. If you can’t see that then you shouldn’t have an opinion on this or any other game.
i mean, d3 was a cash grab. the current dev team has no vision for what makes a game good.
enjoy it all you want but blizzard is just riding on the good name of d2 forever now. it was such a great game (that they are slowly ruining) that they are able to just slap the diablo name on it and it will sell… they don’t have to be good. that much is obvious.
like take wc3 refunded for example. d2r - they gave LITTLE bit more effort than, but as i already mentioned. slowly ruining one of the greatest games ever made. they should’ve left it alone.
don’t think you’re qualified to make that assessment.
If they had no vision for what makes a good game then no one would be able to enjoy it lol.
riiiiiiiiiiiight because diablo 2 is the only enjoyable diablo game ever made. lmao stop you’re foolish.
again, no idea what you’re talking about. If you think D2R only had a little bit more effort you are just outting yourself as someone who has not one single clue of an idea on what they are talking about. just shut up and sit down.
guess you havent seen the scrolls that save you if you DC even if you die before you DC. Easy to cheat, it’s going to be xbox pull pluggers all day again.
everything you said is utter nonsense as a rebuttal … LOL. i’m right in my opinions, you don’t have to agree but i live in reality.
d3 sold because diablo 2 was amazing. am i wrong? … sit down.
and as it stands, people enjoy d3 for a few days at a time, there’s probably like 300 people left grinding after the first week.
and outting myself as someone who has no idea? are you serious?
wc3 reforged was so bad it is nicknamed refunded, and from MY PERSPECTIVE, they tried just SLIGHTLY harder with d2:r. and are still messing it up more and more with each patch, so if you ask me, they made something good, and are destroying it slightly. almost as expected, i was HOPING this wasn’t the case but i did assume this was going to happen and i am correct.
if you think i’m just some ignorant troll, you might want to check the mirror, i know what happens, i know why it happens, and i understand the outcome of certain events because of it. goodbye. bootlicker.
if d3 was a cash grab they never would’ve revamped it. after the AH debacle. They would’ve disabled the ah and kept the game the same or they would’ve done nothing. I mean it when you I said you are just talking about your assassin.
Your perspective is of someone who doesn’t know better. You’re right about WC3. You’re wrong about D2R. do some research on the differences.
Nearly all of the changes made have been good for the majority of players. so yes, you’re absolutely wrong. If you can’t see why its because you refuse to do so.
I don’t think you’re a troll. I just think you’re ignorant and talking out of you assassin.
this argument doesn’t hold up when D2R is the only thing that has added more difficult enemies and bosses into the game since LoD launches. You can’t complain that melee need buffs in one thread and then the changes they made make the game too easy in another. lol you’re rediculous.
