D2 has three player types

Gold buying aside we know that happens lots but in truth this game has three player types.

Fast killers

Good farmers

Suck players

The suck players want everything handed to them because they cannot farm and cannot kill fast. (On Hell)

The other two player types don’t care as killing fast and knowing how to farm is all that matters in D2.

Yet we told daily by the mob that this game is broken… Worked wonderful for two player types for 20+ years… but yup it’s broken for 1 player type….

What’s a sunny day without cloudy days? What is good without bad? What is a pro gamer without noobs? Life goes on.

I give away shakos, vmagis and occys away for free so the newer players can start farming better so they can put nice goods on the market.

I keeping hitting up Meph for that free Shako/Occy, but he’s being stingy.

Just… One… More… Run!!

I’ve been doing nothing but chaos lately, seems to be a good strategy, even though it’s mundane.

Its made me rich over the past few days.

I just farm hell cows with my bowazon for high runes and trade for gear as needed. Hamster wheel game lol.

Missed one.

Rich players.

They make more money than you and trivialize all of your achievements with the wave of their credit card. Tada!

Been my route too… I do cows on ama, then hop on Barb for chaos and Baal

You got it somewhat wrong.

D2 players go through 3 “stages” and each stage has it’s associated specialties.

Stage 1 - Noob-Sauce

  • Good and persistent at whining about everything

  • Good and persistent at moaning about everything

  • Good and persistent at failing in D2 and blaming others or the game for that

  • Good and persistent at farming Forum Replies to push the Forum “Character Level”

  • Calls D2 Characters “Toons”

  • Is very likely to demand various game changes, especially changes that make the game easier in various ways

  • Possibly Buys gear for Real Money on D2 item selling websites and then complains about it on the Forum

  • Is notorious for calling Experienced and Knowledgeable Players “Elitist”

  • Generally talks negatively about D2, pointing out perceived “flaws” and “need” for fundamental change to make the game simpler and easier while calling it “better”

  • Is likely to demand fundamental changes on Forums and/or Social Media and then abandon the game despite implementation of those demanded changes

Stage 2 - Intermediate Player at cross-roads (Eventually moves to Stage 3 or back to Stage 1)

  • Mostly Stopped Moaning, Whining, and Forum-Level-Farming and started investing that time into Farming Items and Runes in-game instead

  • Discovered Google and started to tap into two decades worth of D2 knowledge

  • Started to utilize established, safe and highly active trading communities

  • Loves D2 or dislikes it and thus enjoys D2-Mods more than original D2. As a result, is either against D2R core-game changes or advocates for D2R to essentially become a Mod of D2 by suggesting core-changes.

Stage 3 - Knowledgeable and Experienced Player

  • Knows everyone usually starts out as a Noob in a new game or any other new undertaking. Knows personal talents are gifts that can be leveraged in various new undertakings and help transitioning out of the “Noob-Sauce” Era faster. Remembers mistakes and lack of basic knowledge during the “Noob-Sauce” era of his or her D2 beginnings two decades ago.

  • Has been playing most or all D2 Ladder-Resets for the past two decades

  • Has deep knowledge of D2 acquired over the past two decades

  • Is part of the Knowledge-Base that has been created over the past two decades

  • Has found one or several niche-activities that he or she enjoys the most in D2 (Trading, PVM, PVP, Speed-Running, MFing, Ladder-Resets, Non-Ladder, etc.)

  • Depending on favorite “niche play style” either plays D2/D2R for weeks and months at a time, or gets end-game geared and rich in 1-3 weeks of playtime and moves on to the next “Ladder-Reset” in other games such as Path of Exile etc. That player is eager to return when the next Ladder-Reset in D2/D2R is coming.

  • Obtains Items like Enigma and Infinity within 1-7 days of Ladder Reset by applying knowledge, expertise, and investing time efficiently.

  • Is likely to be against game-changes that affect the core-game such as balance changes or game difficulty changes etc.

  • Is highly likely to play, enjoy and be knowledgeable about other isometric Hack-And-Slash Action-RPGs such as [Path of Exile].

  • Generally talks positively about D2’s Strengths and Genre-Defining aspects

  • Exerts exceptional Brand and Game Loyalty now and into the future, as long as the epic and deeply proven game-mechanics are preserved. (Aka D2 = Excellent, D3 = No Comment, D4 = TBA)

  • Does generally not Post on official D2R Forums knowing its a Highly Toxic Noob-Sauce cesspool

You could consider me a newcomer. Didnt beat the Game 20 years ago.

I admit, I played D2R and I sucked… at first.

But I have patience and perseverance which I learned from other games. After some struggles, I had some breakthroughs leading to progression. I knew that this is all about farming. Then later on I beat the game… Hell… everything all on Solo with no trading. After a few, I got some OP gear and I started to kill faster. Now I am a good farmer and fast killer. I am already facerolling the game after 3 weeks of D2R.

Havent played D2R for weeks now. I am playing AoE4. Just checking in here if there’s something new.

4th player type checking in. Chill Dude.

Chill dude knows what it takes to kill fast and farm gud but opts to go off the beaten path. He enjoys melee even though its sub optimal cause skills like Charge are fun as hell. Chill dude also loves Summoner Druid.

Chill dude is always giving away drops even if they are considered stinky poo poo.

Chill dude thinks the game is fine the way it is but wouldn’t lose his mind if some minor things changed.

I covered them in the disclaimer but yes I agree they do exist in truth. But remember a Suck player can buy power and still really suck!

Saw a Zealot with a Last Wish… I was like… Grief? He was nah man this was way way more $$ so to him better… Than a Grief!?

yup, the suck players, aka millennials, aka snowflakes want everything given to them, want the game changed their way or throw a tantrum because they suck and don’t have the patience to put in the time and effort to farm it out.

You forgot the fourth type, elitist d bags

Some people find endless farming/grinding fun.
Some people don’t, and just want to enjoy the story and actually play the game from start to finish.

I don’t think one way is “better” than the other, but I do think a lot of gamers are elitist gatekeeping douchecopters.

Theres also a fourth type, The stucked players. Those players are stuck in the past, and complain about every change happening, and complain about other players wich is not like them. And blame them for ruin the games.
These are also the persons who always sit on the same chair at dinner table everyday, and glass and fork and knife always is the exact same spot on the table. They also tend to get mad if they cant get the same parking place to there car everyday.
When they realize theres a thing called future and progress, oh boy…hell is loose…
