Cubing Runes - Please end the gem requirement madness

One way to help with the stash space problem for some people (myself included) is to get rid of the gem requirements for cubing up runes.

I only cubed runes at the very start of the season, and then I stopped when I realized its better to trade runepacks for HRs

I do agree that removing the gem requirement would help for future SSF/Ironman leagues for sure, so I’m not against it.

Either that, or keep the requirement and make a Currency Stash-tab like PoE where Gems and Runes can be stacked.

Also acceptable… I’d collect both along the way… Right now I just collect the runes, then have to go hunt the gems.

Why are you cubing up runes??
The gems keep the spirit packs valuable. So if your intent is to sell spirit packs that doesn’t help you one bit.
Or are you trying to save your pennies???
If only it was saving pennies…. It takes 6561 shaels to make a mere um rune….

Yeah, that’d be a scary truth if all one was finding were Shael runes.

My most popular rune other than Ort so far is Dol. :stuck_out_tongue:

I see a Dol drop… D’oh!

Yeah, trading rune packs for HRs is a swell idea, but I know in the back of my mind that a good number of these high runes are botted, and I’d rather not contribute to their proliferation. I have a pet peeve about bots… Well, maybe not a pet peeve and more like a major psychotic hatred for them.

I’m mostly SSF.

Spirit Pack is valuable to anyone with a lot of bases and wants to potentially turn a profit with multiple 34-35% FCR items (Monarch/ST/Sword).

One pack for an Ist-/Mal+ can become x2 Ist or break even in value. A smarter play would be to use the pack on a 45 All Resist ST base to possibly profit Vex-/+

Removing the gems won’t really hurt the spirit pack. People will still buy them to try to profit.

For SSF I’m definitely going to be cubing a LOT. I honestly can’t wait for SSF Ladder to exist.

It’s only a matter of time before Blizzard adds it. Many people are asking for it, myself included.

I’d rather see the stack tab. Part of the purpose, as annoying as it might be, is that it gives a purpose for actually collecting non-flawless, as well as a purpose for keeping some flawless on hand. If they removed this, you’d probably never pick up a non-flawless again outside of a first ladder character.

I hope you’re right but what makes you so sure?

As a proud owner of eth shako and eth wartravs for god’s sake remove that “cannot be repaired” BS from ethereal items. Just let them be superior with lower durability,

no, just make a trading game and trade low level people for their gems. they’ll be so happy.

THIS IS DIABLO, NOT DIABSOLO

ya let’s just make everything overly convenient because DJ doesn’t like it

You’re right, I don’t like it. Just sharing my opinion, like everyone here is free to do as long as it’s kept civil. Thank you very much.

I am hoping that more people complain about Streamers being carried by their followers, effectively eliminating the integrity of Ladder.

Ladder was advertised to ‘challenge’ the Player, yet in no less than 3-4 days, Ladder already felt like Standard (in terms of people with gear*). The only exception is the cost of items, which are slowly, but surely, being devalued due to inflation of items as more people MF/Bot/etc

Don’t get me wrong. I am all for Seasonal resets to make the game feel healthy… but if it really is just a reset for the market, I think I’d rather just occasionally play offline or skip Ladder and play non-Ladder to get cheaper items.

I think SSF is bound to happen, especially Ironman. It would be FAR more entertaining to watch someone play the game with only the one character and see how they deal with different situations - if they utilize respec for farming to a certain level, and respec again once they reach a target level… if they switch out an item for another for specific encounters… if they get a lucky rare and end up using it for awhile… if they find two of the same HRs, do they consider cubing them to make a RW or possibly using them to make an upped Rare or Unique they found more usable?

SSF and/or Ironman feel WAY MORE challenging than what we’ve witnessed this Ladder season.

the problem isn’t that it requires gems, it’s remembering which gem does what with what rune. i can barely remember what the runes are, let alone the gem combinations. it sucks having to keep alt-tabbing to check

The first characters to 99 will be played by teams of people who play in shifts so the character is going 24 hours. And then the forums will be lit up with “Blizzard needs to implement playtime or daily XP caps to preserve the integrity of the SSF ladder and stop the cheating.”

You’re dreaming if you think SSF ladder will somehow be a magical place where everyone is happy. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, just don’t blind yourself to what it will be.

Best way to approach the ladder? Treat it for what it is, an arbitrary “competition” that in the end means very little other than bragging rights.

Your mistake was setting up a strawman that I cared about the first to 99.

I don’t care if people are account-sharing to get one character to 99. It doesn’t change the fact that they are not being funneled items by followers/etc, and they have to utilize items found for different situations.

I know some people do care. I still think it will be far more entertaining to watch each class’s journey to 99 through whatever means they decide to go by to get there with their class.

i hard disagree. i don’t think there a chance in hell of that happening. not because it wouldn’t be awesome, but because blizz will never make the changes to drops and xp and a few other things to make it feasible. they’ll never give the online game the /player x command, and they’ll never shift the drop tables to allow one person to realistically farm the high runes and uniques needed.

don’t get me wrong, i’d love to see a solo ironman ladder, both hardcore and normal, i just don’t think it’ll ever happen.

And your mistake is assuming I’m trying to argue with you, but given the environment on here I don’t fault you for that. And it’s not a strawman. As you said yourself, you may not care about the race to 99 but many do and I guarantee you the cries over account sharing in any kind of SSF mode will be many.

But I get what you’re saying about funneling items and HRs to streamers. I just don’t care about it because I treat ladder seasons as nothing more than a fresh world. Let Llama and the others play how they want. I play mostly SSF myself, although I’m not averse to trading something shiny if I find it, nor am I against twinking my own characters. But I’m also not opposed to an actual SSF mode in game, although I’m not as confident as you are that it will happen.
