Second time in 3 weeks dying to a cow portal opening directly in the center of a pack. I was given to understand this is unlikely - but it is not. A warning to anyone planning for cows as their aource of farming in HC. It is Russian roulette.
Hmmm, never saw anything in any game description that ever said, entering cows was 100% safe in HC.
What do you want them to do? Make it kiddie-safe for you, so you can get your participation trophy and still make 100k fg?
Your the kind bragging in-game about how much fg you have … so I’d let you run baal while I open cows for you, lol … then I’d bring 10 packs to the portal and enter town and wait in act 1 and tell you, hey I waited for you to get done, and let you run right in!
Are you sure that another player did not purposefully lead the cows to the portal as a trap?

i dont ever even run cows and i know this can happen as i have seen it numerous times…not directly inside a pack but just to their side
the way you describe it sounds like the portal was surrounded on all sides - which of course can happen in d2r because the loading is atrocious

Ya, the lack of WP and Cow portal safe zones keeps me out of HC. Since LOD I have lost my first two HCs just trying to take a WP to die before loading. That was way back in the day. Since they have not fixed it yet, one can assume they will not for one reason or another. My last Red Cow portal I made was right on top of the cow king group. That is asking too much for HC to have fun. It is not fun wasting your time dying to an unfair mechanic to me.
Lol what is this reply. History of trauma around fg apparently. Glad to know you place hot TPs for other players in Hardcore. Real nice thing to do, I hope it brings you lots of satisfaction to ruin others’ experience.

bigger question is why do you play hardcore without basic knowledge of D2 ? or even not reading guides knowing your playing a mode that terminate you if u die once
a simple research for death traps would told ya this 
…second try for 50-75% block…maybe you wont die when getting mass hit
running a merc with decent gear would also help if he take some hits too
HC is a huge no-no too if your lagging(1 bad time spike and your gone)…heck even server crash could end you
play HC at your own risk…or play softcore if HC is too much for ya
Cows is not ment to be a joke easy zone. Its an end game area and they hit hard. The high monster density leads to a good farming area but uou have to keep on your toes.
Hardcore is what it is. If your build cannot deal with a sudden problem then your playthrough is over. You need to make absolutely sure you can handle what the area is throwing at you or its over. Hardcore has no second chances so dont play yhe mode or go to cows if you arent ready.

I think the reality is that cows are not viable for farming in HC - I spawned directly inside Cow King pack. Only a BO buffed pally or barb cpuld have survived especially given the loading times. Its for this reason I also dont farm frigid. Pack of champion threshers can down even the hardiest chars
There is however a slight diffrence in being challenging content (which it isn’t) and cheesy with you being killed because d2r has loading screens.
Don’t get me wrong, playing HC is at your own risk. I just think the odd portal that lands right next to cow king is a bit lame. Since not everyone has the most top end computer. (Someone is gonna hit me with the "peasants should not play d2r, go play minecraft or something.)
Not everyone has money to plow into a computer or 1000 mbit internet which is pretty common where i live.

Yet another victim of load screen vulnerability. 
According to Blizzard themselves this was supposed to be fixed after the Beta but it never was. They probably had to revert patches at some point before launch and reverted the fix to load screen vulnerability and forgot to patch it back in.
Ive read that reinstalling can help reduce the load times. Im testing that today. I’m very fast with reflexes and able to do CC so in cows I literally never get hit once. My merc is weak this early in the season, but he is kept alive with cloak of shadows, mind blast, shadow warrior. Im no newb, I was punching way above my weight in hell cows and cleared them 30 times before this happened. I just seriously doubt that any character can survive 10 seconds being hit by champion cow pack of the Cow King. To farm to the extent such a character could, wpuld require horking for several months to get BiS and CTA or a BO barb. At that point, why do u even need to cow?
Cow portals being dangerous (especially in HC) has been a known thing for… Oh, idk, over 20 years?
The only cow pack that can spawn near portal is cow king’s pack and even then I’m not sure it can spawn on top of the portal.
If you encountered several packs or packs of regular cows on top of the portal, then someone 100% dragged those cows on top of the portal.

Probably load times mixed with a poorly geared merc. The merc wandered toward a nearby pack, died, and they killed him before loading.
ya i’ve never had an issue of moving out of the way first, probably your load times. that sucks.
Hah this literally happened to me yesterday, glad I’m not playing HC though. Can’t seem to attach pic but yeah right on the cow king pack and rip
You used to be able to still move during the load screen… but I guess they “fixed” that.
Karma is a real ugly doggy lady. I took a cow loading death t his morning. My necromancer got eaten then i joined him. I was in softcore so while it wasnt a free death i will recover. Moral of story be go into cow level ready to go. I should have gotten my summons preset and setup bone armor. It can happen to anybody.
