Characters are vulnerable to attack during load screens

Loading Screen: Character Vulnerability & Time

Characters will no longer spawn in a hostile place until the game is fully loaded, preventing characters from getting attacked or harmed during a loading screen. Additionally, the overall load times will be faster.

Q: Why is my character still attacked while at a loading screen?

A: As mentioned in the Technical Alpha Learnings blog, characters will no longer spawn in a hostile place until the game is fully loaded, preventing characters from getting attacked or harmed during a loading screen. This fix is not in the build for the Early Access and Open Beta, but it will be in the game for launch. We didn’t want to delay the timing of the upcoming tests for this issue.

According to these official Blizzard blogposts characters should not be attacked during loading screens, but unfortunately this isn’t the case.

You can be attacked and even killed during load screens especially when you take waypoints across Acts which causes longer load times due to graphic assets needing to be loaded. Frigid Highlands is especially notorious for its slow load times and enemies spawning near the waypoint that can kill you.

This happens on both online Bnet and offline single player, latency is not a factor.

Thanks for posting this, I just came over to this forum to do the same, but see you’ve got my back :stuck_out_tongue:

For reference here is my recent experience: Frigid Highlands auto death

Blizz, please see this!!!

I noticed that framerate cap (more of a framerate lock!) makes load times longer the lower the framerate.

If you watch the character entering a tp/wp/new game from the players screen and a party members screen simultaneously, the party member client sees AND hears the character enter way before the entering players client reflects this.

Happens a lot in trades too - players can see the character arrive in-game and try to trade/chat way before the loading character has actually loaded on their client.

Could we finally get this fixed for the upcoming patch? It should’ve been fixed nearly 2 years ago now. :stuck_out_tongue:
