Convince me the drop system isnt broken

What’s broken is the human species. Hardly anyone wants to work for anything anymore. Because of this very few people actually know how to build things, nor are interested in developing skills. “But it’s a game!” So are D3 and D:I, they have easy loot and are available to play.

Dude, do you know how simple it is to accumulate adequate wealth on d2jsp? Play d2r during the very beginning of any ladder season, sell everything you find right away for FG to take advantage of how high ladder prices start, wait one or two weeks for prices to settle, use accumulated FG to buy everything you are missing or want…profit??

Back when d2r first got released, I found an extra tal’s armor within first week, sold it for over 2000 FG. Then over the months before the first ladder season launched I was able to use that FG to completely gear up 4 characters… quite simple and easy… currently jah + ber on SCL is about 300 FG, you can sell pgems for 1 FG each and within a couple days you could easily make enough FG selling pgems to buy yourself jah/ber to make enigma. No one with jah/ber in a public game wants 300 pgems, and how the hell are you going to trust them to exchange everything? FG is a trillion times better than any trading system blizz can muster which is why after stupid backlash with d3 rmah blizz has decided no more trading & all account bound bye bye

Whenever the next ladder starts, I’ll sell you a genuine hand crafted exquisite deluxe exclusive renowned cracked sash for 100 FG.

Wait, nevermind. I don’t have a JSP account.

If it is functioning as intended, its not broken and doesnt need fixing. And it is not broken, mechanism how loot drops is well known from d2 game files and working.

You dont know, you only think that.

Your leveling journey has nothing to do with funding items. Some choose to do mf/rune runs instead of leveling. I think you could find a lot more if you dudnt care about leveling thst much.

This is seriously hard to believe.

Wrong, not true.

There is nothing to fix, drop rates are pretty much flawless in d2.

Your drop rate will be different every character or every season because of RNg and thats the beauty of it.

If you play 10 hours per day and not finding much, you are not spending time in game effectively. Yes, a lot of people, even veterans st this game often lsck knowledge how and where to mf to get best results. There is no shame in that.

Actually best way to get a high rune IS NOT to grind some Supa magic find Sorc who is level 99 and get so repeated runs of high drop areas in minutes repeatedly.

Best way to get a Gul like you got:

  1. make a Barbarian

  2. play normal to Hell up to Baal

  3. do a hour or two Baal runs or cows to get to level 79 or 82 so you can equip full IK set ( oh I forgot you need to have bought/traded for IK set - chest is hardest to trade for but you can buy it for an UM and you can get an um from Nightmare Hell Forge)

4 with the IK set you can make a game and do the Hellforge at Hell level - with this you can get a Gul rune - or higher as IK set has lots of magic find

Time spent grinding areas to level 98 like you is a waste compared to almost guaranteed high rune drop on an IK barbaric at the Hell level Hell forge

I am an MCI intellect of Huge strategy - I read Robert Heilien and was the smartest NCO in the Marines eva - pls feel free to ask me for mor game winner advice - Bliz should hire me to do adds with Charlie Sheen!

Uhm… Magic find has no effect on rune drops. And it certainly has no effect on what rune Hellforge drops.

Normal - El to Amn.
Nightmare - Sol to Um.
Hell - Hel to Gul
Every rune has an equal 1/11 chance to drop.

If you’re indeed talking about running a character up to Hell difficulty just to farm runes from Hellforge, a Sorceress can do that by herself easy peasy without any help, especially if you already have gear ready to rinse and repeat with.

This rune farming strategy was made obsolete with the vast increase in high rune drops with patch 1.13C.

The best strategy to increase your chances for high runes is to run high area level areas with Ghosts, Finger Mages and Gloams. Yes, those feared Gloams! Ahhhh! :scream:

you are a big noob
I found 2 Lo 2 Ohm 3 tal amys java sk 38 life and rolled a 42life pcomb with pgems before I hit 90 in trav
farming tz’s with 200mf is bad most of them have no ghosts to drop hrs
and chance of dropping good uniques is too low.
you might have had bad luck too it happens, but you are probably just a noob

rng is rng. ive found three tal’s ammy this last month. one in standard and two in ladder. it definately exists.

i’ve probably found like 20-30 tal ammys alone. this kid just hasn’t played as much as they think they have. 20 years. on and off. but can’t find tals ammy? or HR? … i’ll repeat myself here.

but THE ONLY ITEM I HAVEN’T FOUND YET. is tyreals might.

and if you look on twitch, there’s quite a few no life streamers who have completed seasonal grails. just go watch them if you want to learn how to farm properly. how do they do it? no the drop system is broken… surely no one could find every item within 4 months could they? while you spend 20 years…

go play something else. (to the op) not you drankbeer.

All you “perfect the way it is” people do you trade? Play SSF for a year+ and tell me it’s fine.

inb4 a no lifer says its fine.

It is fine. I am online but strictly SSF this season. Nothing wrong with drops. Only play 1 or 2 hours a day if that. If you play this game with the expectation of finding the best items on any regularity, then you will only be disappointed and you are probably playing the wrong game. Go back to Diablo 1 or even D2 without expansion to appreciate this even more… item rarity and dependance in d2 stems from those roots, it isnt the same tree as d3 and what d4 most likely will be. The most enjoyable way to play the game is to have zero item expectations… it is more fun to use budget gear and figure creative ways to progress than having all bis items and clearing everything without a sweat… if you want that feeling of being unstoppable then d3 is better for that mentality.

Why? it IS broken. Anyone with half a brain sees it. It turns other players into unwelcome competition. That’s reason to change it right there.

It’s actually nice having both a slower and faster paced Diablo game to play. That’s why I’d rather Diablo 2 stay the way it is, with its stingy drop rates and slower progression. If I want a major dose of button mashing fun with a flood of items, I’ll go play Diablo 3.

Exactly…d3 is a great game. Philosophy is different to d2 and when i reflect on my years playing both i appreciate the direction more than blizz trying to recreate d2. Just like I wouldn’t want diablo 1 to be like d2, i certainly dont want d3 infecting d2, they need to stay distinct from each as much as possible.

Oh good more “I didnt see X thing so gaem bad” Nah its just you fam. You’re doing it wrong 100% and you’ve been explained it but refused to listen.

Thats not very effective way to play to find uniques tho. Its great for bases and runes, but if you are serious about finding elite uniq items, players 1 and 350% mf and elite/boss sniping in terror zones is way to go.

You keep saying that drop rates are fine but system is broken. What do you mean by system, what exactly is broken in it?

Probably tripled the amount I’m playing with the holiday bonuses and running more efficient because of the higher repetition. Only mention that to say I got very lucky with a Jah, Vex, and Mal this week in ladder SSF.

If you really up your grind you will get good things. I may not get another rune this ladder, but I notice that the drops get better when you really get into higher numbers of of repetitive play, like the 24 hour cow TZ. Thousands of times in your career isn’t the same as 100s of times in a day. That’s when things start to get real interesting.

I do agree that it’s hard for people that don’t have the time or inclination to play that hard at doing the same thing over and over, even 100 times in a row. But I’ve been there and cursed the gods that nothing dropped. But I wasn’t really honest with myself. My 20 or so runs at something wasn’t the hundreds of times I told myself I must have done.

Even so, I have never asked for higher drop rate. RNG eventually shines on everyone putting the work in. And those drops are so much sweeter. Never dropped a Cham or a Zod. You’d never find me here complaining about drops if I had. People have been playing for 20 years and never dropped either, let alone in a season.

I have never found a ber rune either (coincidentally), which is funny because I have found a lot of jah, sur and lo runes, which I traded for bers on multiple occasions. You need to realize that rng is rng and you may not get exactly what you want, which is why you need to trade whatever else you get for that. If you trade actively, you can get an enigma or even infinity in no more than one week, considering you know where to farm with your build, are efficient in doing so and know what items are valuable.

There’s a video of a guy trading his way up to an enigma in one single day and he’s not even using jsp, only in game trading. So this is pretty much a case of git gud.
