I see this is an all too common problem, Blizzard. My level 50+ Barb has vanished. Had been happily playing online through the lobby, then switched to some online single-player, ‘save and exit’, then the game seemed to be taking forever to load before being kicked back to title screen aaaaaaand…no character.
Restarted Diablo, no good.
Logged out of Battle.net and back in again, no good.
Rebooted my computer and did it all again? No good.
So, basically wasted hours of my life for nothing.
Get it sorted @Blizzard, or I’ll send Red Shirt Guy after you… > (

Yeah… Ur not the only one. Some have got theirs back thanks to rolebacks and such… however… higher chance they are just gone gone… Here is what blizz told me about missing chars/items.

Thanks for the comprehensive response.
As it has turned out (happily for me), I let it wait overnight in the hope that my character was simply ‘stuck’ in a server somewhere and therefore inaccessible to me (one of the ‘generic’ Blizzard suggestions). Anyway, I can only assume that this was the case because when I logged in yesterday morning (12-Oct-2021), my character was back.
Go figure, I guess. So while not a fun experience, I think I’ve gotten off lightly compared to (many) others.
Maybe the threat of Red Shirt guy did the trick?
