It doesnt really make sense to be able to use cleglaw sword at level 4 because strength and dexterity requirement is way too big so tis pretty much impossible to equip it early on. I think cleglaw sword should have lowered requirements.
Also Cleglaw and Civerb sets should be able to complete as full sets without shield and using two cleglaw or civerb weapons instead as barbarian.
The set offers a lot of really good ‘mods’ that are well beyond the lvl 4 req. I agree that the sword is silly at a lvl 4 req while you need to be quite a bit higher to use the sword. But…50% deadly strike, 35% crushing blow, AR bonus, Resists, Def. That’s really good for the level required. The shield IMO is the only piece that is really the level req for the set.
It’s also a perfect set for a Blade Fury sin. I would hate to see them try to ‘improve’ it. I use the whole set until mid nightmare and the gloves and shield can last until Hell.
It is weird set tho. Sword is great but gloves and shield are just garbage. Knockback is just horrible for melee chars who would use sword and shield is trash.
You are correct it is a weird set for melee. The pieces have great usefulness on their own. As stated the full set is perfect for blade fury, it will take you most the way through the game and now that we can upgrade the sword, I may be using the set in Hell.
The gloves are good for a throw barb, blade fury, early zon gloves. Yes bad for melee but great for ranged. I can’t say much about the shield, I got used to the look on my assassin, but it is lacking.
As a set it is one of the only things that really helped the blade fury sin work. It will still be good in 2.4 for her.
Only good use for that set I found 15 years ago when I was using it on my HC player killer charger

Cleglaw is in a weird spot, but has some powerful mods like deadly strike, crushing blow… and agree should have lower requirements. I don’t know about what you guys think, but I really think Heaven’s Brethren, Isenhart’s Armory and Berserker’s Arsenal needs some love. I’m proposing some buffs to these sets in post below…
