I purchased the game and can never get the game install to start.
I have:
disabled all security protections,
fresh installed battle.net,
cleared programdata cache,
checked for windows and nvidia driver updates,
switched to ethernet,
confirmed my specs exceed requirements,
ensured my processor supports AVX
created a fresh administrator account, and run battle.net, or the Diablo-II-Resurrected-Setup.exe as admin,
checked dxdiag for any errors,
What gives? The little logo on the D2R page just spins for ages, then eventually an error pops up. I can use all nature of other cloud services and have never had an issue outside of battle.net.
It normally says: "oops, something went wrong (or crashed)⌠I cant remember the rest.
Just now I actually saw the install dialog! but as soon as I clicked install, for the default location, it says " We couldnât access a folder. This is usually because youâre not logged in as an administrator.Error Code: BLZBNTAGT0000084B"
I KNOW I am running as administrator, and I KNOW I launched battle.net as admin. I am on the special user I made explicitly for this task
EDIT back to the original error on my next attempt Whoops! Looks like something broke or crashed. Please try restarting the Battle.net app. If that doesnât work, try restarting your computer.BLZBNTBNA00000005
Delete all the Bnet files from your system.
Local Disk / Program Files (x86) and delete the âBattle.netâ folder.
Then hit the Windows Start menu, type ârunâ then enter.
Type %AppData% and then enter.
Delete the Battle.net folder in that directory as well.
Then restart computer and try reinstalling it. And try installing it with a freshly downloaded Bnet-launcher installer.
long running blank D2R install attempt, ending in BLZBNTBNA00000005
canceled out, then clicked INSTALL again, IMMEDIATE install menu, with folder and so on. Clicked yes, didnât change from C:\Program Files (x86) default location, seconds later BLZBNTAGT0000084B
current attempt is back to original spinning blank install screen
That was a little unclear, sorry for misunderstanding.
Do you have another ssd? Here is a suggestion.
Download win10 iso.
Put it on a usb stick. Make sure itâs formatted ntfs.
Reboot machine and change boot options to usb stick.
Power off the machine. Remove your gpu card. And plug hdmi directly to your motherboard port instead.
Power the system and install Windows.
Download all or required os updates to run the game. This might take awhile.
Download Firefox and download your motherboard chipset driver.
Also download soundcard drivers, monitor drivers, gpu drivers, etc.
Power off the system and install the card. Power on the machine and download the Bnet launcher then install it.
I might be missing a lot of steps to config the system but if this doesnât fix it then it might be a hardware issue. Youâll have to provide your cpu, ram, gpu, etc. to maybe address this problem. Hope itâs resolved by now!!
youâre smoking something if you think this will work. youâre pretty much suggesting wiping the computer clean just to run a game. Itâs not suppose to work that way.
Headache donât do this, it is a waste of time. Youâre not the only person with this issue, there are more than a few that are having this same issue. With the number of people having this issue, itâs not on out end. Blizzard screwed up the game, itâs that simple. There is no reason you should have to do any of that to make a game work, when other games, apps, programs, and computer functions work fine. Donât take this BS about it being all your drivers, windows, or anything else. Just say it like it isâŚ
Every system is different and got different hardware. We all know that the game isnât perfect but so are our systems and connections. Even a fresh installation of Windows after wiping all drives can create instability due to corrupt files or faulty hardware.
While itâs unthinkable to do this kind of troubleshooting for every game release, it is also unthinkable that any system is perfectly stable! Many and i mean many problems in this forum were local issues and still are.
If you are too stubborn to troubleshoot your local PC issues then there is no chance for any dev to find the problems in their application.
the amount of people would say this isnât an individual computer issue. Every system is different, but the amount of people with this issues, shows itâs not on the system end or user end things. But it is comments like yours that downplay these issues, so Blizzard ignores them.
Sidenote: Iâve done the suggested fix 5 times now because different reps from tech support suggest the same thing over and over and over and over, without reading the dxdata msinfo being sent to them. They are just restating a fix that is linked to the error âWhoops! Looks like something broke.â They never think that the âbrokeâ is on their end, only the users.
You are right it shows how complex it can get! My point is that simply blaming Blizzard isnât enough while there are several problems with your system. Iâd rather look at my own system before claiming that others made a mistake. If you remove any other problem, which is hard i know, with your system and the same errors occur then you might be onto something.
I donât want to downplay the issue here, i just want people to cooperate and actually help Blizzard to find the problems on their end while we provide several different systems and errors. Iâve seen too many people just blaming others and eventually they found issues on their end that improved the situation. But âshoot first and ask questions laterâ seem to be easier.
Thatâs the annoying part.
Itâs not shooting first asking later, it only takes a few minutes to look through forums and notice this isnât an issue with just individual computers with how many are reporting this issue, and other issues. This would seem to fall on the company that released a faulty product.
If Ford released a car with all the issues this game has, would you blame the person that bought and tried driving the broken car and say âwell have you tried changing the battery, or maybe try a higher octane gas, maybe an oil change is needed, or a new starter.â Or would you be looking at Ford saying, âwhy the hell did you remake the Pinto?â
Again, you are correct. However how do you find issues with your product if there are several other problems on the local systems as well? Itâs looking for a needle in haystack.
I am actually against a fresh install of the OS because you donât know the cause for original problem. While it may solve the issue at first sight, you still donât know what caused it which puts you back to square one.
Iâd rather revamp most of my PC and uninstall several things to eliminate potential root causes then simply wiping it completly. It helps the devs, community and myself to narrow down the actual problem, regardless on which side it is on.
Thanks for all your contributions Gulgir.
We tried that in the previous post and then I suggested if âheadacheâ if he had another ssd. It takes an hour to install an OS with drivers to have a base system potentially. Would I remodel an entire house with bad foundation? Or would I build a new one; if I have the tools, material, and an open-mind. Also adjust when problems arise like permits and inspections. I think I went on a tangentâŚ
I am working in support for nearly 3 years now and helping people with their problems and fixing core problems just makes me happy on a daily basis!
Unfortunatly i donât have the needed paperwork to apply for a job somewhere else. My work collegues call me âcrazyâ because i am relentless, going above and beyond the expectations and stay calm in the meantime. I got lucky that i got this position at work and i really appreciate that my boss gave me the chance.
