Can you bring back having to TYPE D E L E T E to delete characters? I think my missing character was accidently deleted

having to TYPE D E L E T E would prevent this issue. I think someone clicked the X trying to quit the game on my computer, and they thought that the pop up just said “are you sure you want to quit?” and just automatically pressed OK.

Even if I dont get my character back it doesnt bother me, but if you implement having to type DELETE it would prevent others from this issue

lol my story is my game lagged out while playing with a friend, while it was on the character select screen I went to get a drink, snack ect ect, a family member was then on my computer.

I logged back into Diablo 2 R, and my character was gone.

Im pretty positive they clicked the big red X , then ok, then that didnt work, then pressed EXIT DIABLO 2 to the left side…

seeing how it was just a low lvl 24, I find it more funny than anything, not a huge loss, just a very easily preventable one, that was already in the game 20 years ago.

If I knew it was that easy to accidentally delete characters I NEVER would have left my computer on that screen. I am actually very very glad I learned this with a low lvl character. Lesson learnt.

Well, Its always easier to have someone to blame. I feel your pain. If you want I can give you some free items to get started up again. Lol

heh like i said it was only lvl 24, I can get there in a day, so anything I lost is worth nothing, not a big loss at all, just found it surprising they took away TYPING delete to delete the character.

If this happened to me so easily I can imagine out of the millions that bought this a couple might have this happen to.

This feature NEEDS to come back

i was lucky and stored all my good stuff in shared stashes, so what I lost was basically just the stuff the character was wearing.

THANK GOD for those shared stashes lol

Yeah I just deleted my character because a red X has never ever in the history of PC gaming meant delete character. It always means close. Who the French toast came up with that crap? and no type Delete safeguards either. Just a red X and an are you sure message. Its kindergarten shiz. Who designed this? This needs to be fixed ASAP

agree. This was fixed over 20 years ago. Not like we asking for something new. We just want a feature that was already in the game over 20 years ago

2nd this. I have lost two characters to bliz bugs and now one to a button that looks like a close window button.

Well just did this on my lvl 49 paladin. Every other game I’ve played including blizzard games has resources available to restore deleted characters. D2 customer service goes straight to “It is not possible to restore a deleted character in Diablo II: Resurrected. Customer Support cannot restore deleted characters.” My character is probably being shredding along with all the paperwork as we speak… Thanks Blizz <3

Actually, it was happened to me.

Hasn’t happened to me but I am in favor of it. Designing UI around human ability to do the wrong thing is part of design =)

Not that I see a problem with the requested change I am just dumb founded on how it’s an issue. Is this happening on PC ? There is literally an Exit Diablo tab on the left and the X on the bottom of the char list literally reads Delete if you mouse over it and you literally have to confirm that you want to delete. This is why we have to put “Do not eat” warning labels on things like silica. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I would personally have it so you have to type the actual name rather than Delete like other games do so you know for sure which character it is

Yea this needs to be implemented asap

Yea I’ve posted in a few threads about this and I totally sympathize because I’ve been tempted to click it as well (not anymore). The two people I play with have agreed too, so it seems people that are a bit confused by it aren’t some tiny minority.

I’m pretty sure whoever deleted their character realizes this by now. Not to mention the fact that people are quick to point this out in every thread, imagine that. I don’t think the argument is that it wasn’t a dumb mistake and that it’s not the users fault, just that the UI and/or the red “X” are a bit unintuitive.

Yes please. Make it be 3 or 4 steps to delete a char. Way to easy at the moment.

My brother was in a rush to leave and deleted his character while trying to exit and has now lost all motivation to play. Subsequently, I’ve lost any motivation to play as well as I no longer have someone to play with.

Delete Button should NOT have a shortcut hotkey with controller, you should have to manually guide the cursor over it and HOLD X/A on the button for it to initiate delete command.

you never had to type in delete in diablo 2
