If it is too slow, they could set it to 90% resistance instead, or whatever.
It doesn’t necessarily need to be super efficient. These charms, imo, are more about allowing more builds, in more zones, to function somewhat reasonably (actually being able to kill stuff), than about necessarily doing it at high efficiency.
I agree, i was just echoing the overall thinking and assuming that people should play like that, and the reason i think devs won’t do that : you don’t create content just so most players bypass it.
I would like some “enableing” for immunities but we don’t need more powerfarm. Of course some builds make it too easy, thats the way always were (hammerdin is too easy in tz? lol that is news to all).
Cold sorc has always been the cheapest to gear up.
Meanwhile you’re basing your view on players 1 games and comparing to the other characters that have god awful builds on them.
Other chars will probably still be better than cold sorc, but cold sorc 100% got a massive buff and you could play that for forever. But I do think other chars when you get fully geared will wind up being better than cold sorc.
I haven’t seen all these new charms but if there is a Lightning one that does the same then a Javazon will be just as big.
Java/Light still going to do great.
Hork still great.
Cold is best with cheap AF gear, but gets outpaced by java/light/hork.
Hammerdin will still do just fine.
Blizz Sorc’s wouldn’t have Frozen Orb(no point) so dump those points into Ice Blast to max Blizz and rest into Telekinesis to get as efficient of an ES as you can possibly get. All you need is level 36 Cold Mastery(-195%) to achieve -100% Resistance on any Cold Immune with the Sundered Charm so Cold Skill GC’s and Rainbow Facets are effectively points you can shave off Cold Mastery that yields more points into Telekinesis. Level 20 Energy Shield = 75% Absorption, which is really solid given you’ll rarely, if ever, run out of Mana with Insight active. You could put a point into Warmth because the effects stack additively(270% at level 21 isn’t bad). Level 17 Meditation(700%) + 270% = 970% or 120/10.7 = 11.2 seconds(compared to 15 without it). Every second you shave off is more Mana Regeneration/second, hence a stronger recovery.
Now assuming fully geared Characters with 5 Skill GC’s of their respective Element, here’s what each “Build” will be doing. Note that values below are merely raw damage totals, not DPS(hence FCR breakpoints MATTER).
Blizzard Sorceress: Level 44(fully synergized): 8.1-8.4k x 2 = 16.2-16.8k before Cold Damage multipliers(ex: 20/5 Nightwing + 35/5 Death Fathom). Assuming perfect rolls: 1.55 multiplier = 25.1k - 26k
Fire Sorceress: Level 44 Fire Spells with -15% Flickering Flame + 25/5 Eschutas + Phoenix Monarch(-28%) = -48% Enemy Fire Resistance. With Infinity Mercenary, Enemy Resistance falls to -38% on Fire Immune foes.
Fireball: 19-20k(w/ Eschuta buff) x 1.38 = 26.2k - 27.6k
Meteor: 38-40k(w/ Eschuta buff) x 1.38 = 53.8k - 55.2k
Obviously will do more against non-immune enemies.
Light Sorceress: Level 39 Lightning Spells at 200 FCR breakpoint(Obsession(+3 Nova, +3 Lightning, +3 Lightning Mastery) Staff + Griffons 20/25) + 5/5 VMagi. With Infinity Mercenary, Enemy Resistance drops to -20 on Light Immune foes.
Lightning: 38-38k x 1.2 = 45 - 45.6k
Chain Lightning: 22-12.8k x 1.2 = 26 - 15.4k
Nova: 4.5-5.4k x 1.2 = 5.4k - 6.48k
Against non-immunes, damage is much higher.
If we drop to 117 FCR breakpoint, you can feasibly hit Level 43 Lightning Spells with 25/5 Eschutas and 20/25 Griffons. Enemy Resistance remains the same with Infinity Mercenary.
Lightning: 40-41.5k x 1.2 = 48 - 49.8k
Chain Lightning: 23 - 14.9k x 1.2 = 27 - 17.88k
Nova: 4.9k - 6.3k x 1.2 = 5.8k - 7.56k
Swap out Eschutas for Crescent Moon + 2/20 Amulet yields Level 40 Lightning Spells and Enemy Resistance falling to -50
Lightning: 37 - 33.9k x 1.5 = 55 - 50.8k
Chain Lightning: 21 - 12.6k x 1.5 = 31 - 18.9k
Nova: 4.1k - 5.3k x 1.5 = 6.1k - 7.9k
Keep in mind that this is against Lightning Immunes with Sundered Charm + Infinity. Damage will be much greater against non-immune targets. As you’ll notice, Fire/Lightning trump Cold Sorceress in every sense of the word. They just require far more investment than a Cold Sorceress to steamroll the game. Feel free to explore the OPness of Javazons and other Elemental builds since above is just a taste of what Sundered Charms will do for the Sorceress… smh.
No hammerdin will still be there. But how dare a cold sorc get close
My favorite part is that if they nerf cold mastery, then Light Sorc just slides in the top spot. Infinity + Griffs + Sunder puts Light immunes at -15 Light res. The charms are such a disaster.
I didn’t say blizz sorc, I said pure cold sorc.
Orb > clearing scrub than blizz & Blizz > act bosses
no, no, no, terrible mindset. AT LEAST THEY ARE MAKING CHANGES?!?!?
THESE CHANGES ARE DOWN RIGHT PATHETICLY GAME RUINING.
ah yes, but at least… they’re making changes. you sound dumber than the devs.
You guys realise you don’t have to use the charms, right? You can still run around being limited to specific areas with specific builds and enjoying the build diversity that immunity brings… by just not putting the charm in your inventory.
If you’re still angry despite not being forced to use them then perhaps you just don’t want others to be able to use them either.
I’m going to abuse them as much as I possibly can and as fast as I can to see how long Ladder lasts playing on baby ez mode
What do you mean bro? Didn’t you like some guys post above that was being extremely toxic to him just because he streams and makes money for playing the game? A lot of people here are very jealous of streamers and I’m assuming these are the older folks. Why don’t you tell that guy to chill and flag his post?
The competitive aspect of ladder was over a week after it started and yet the numbers of players remained steady for a few months after that.
If you’re going to… play the new ladder… and abuse use the new charms in order to… race towards 99 along with the rest of the ladder playerbase then jeez man… that sounds awful. That sounds nothing like what a ladder is supposed to be at all.
We’ve got a new mechanic. Let’s try it for a ladder, if we don’t like it, say as much and it’ll probably get modified/ditched/whatever at the end of next ladder or perhaps before it even starts, if they can find a way to address people’s concerns in time.
Half of you need to stop being so testerical and just start providing constructive feedback, it’d be so much more productive.
I believe he was the one who started with trying to talk down for someone working at mcdonalds, actually providing a service that has real world use.
He was replying to this, which is a pretty toxic way to talk to someone.
I know Debrunski is taking the opposing side to this patch and so he’s going to receive hate for it. I’m a casual and I don’t agree with this patch. The charms seem very random as if no true balance or intent was put in place around them. The names don’t even fit the Diablo atmosphere. Terror Zones looked good from the start, but it fizzled out in these last few weeks. The charms were a waste of development time. I know they’re going to make the game more fun for some people, but how fun is it to obliterate all content in the game just so you can find more dog s*** items that you don’t even need? Unfortunately the devs don’t have the golden years of Diablo 2 to reference from and D2R won’t live up to its full potential because of it.
Look how much feedback CharlesJT provided in these last few months and all of it went to complete waste. Like wtf?
I’m definitely gonna try it.
I’m going to make a ES Insight Cold Sorc, farm/trade until I have all the Sunders, and then just stop playing until I can transfer my stuff to my NL characters
Everybody has their own personal goals in Ladder which is cool
Kill time should be much slower throughout the whole game.
You ppl who like your one shot delete monster are insane.
Not sure if I agree with his assessment re light/cold sorc. Definitely has it wrong when it comes to physical builds/bowazons.
And pollute non-ladder with charms that may later be found to be a mistake? No thanks
I don’t know if this team can delete ladder specific items like D3 can. If they introduce these GC, they may become a relic for future players.
