Its time for Blizzard to create a dedicated trade server that enables all players and platforms to session into and barter trades. Splitting the communities is SAF.
Sounds like a fantastic way to increase the incentive to hack this game and destroy the economies.
People interested in security should see all the uses for “compartmentalization”.
Can you say VMware and Virtual Cluster
Honestly who cares? Cross trading items is already possible. Why not just let everyone have access
It’s not going to happen, but allowing a few people to control the market on certain items isn’t exactly great for the “economy” of Diablo either.
People could see this issue coming from a distance and the implications.
D2R Cross-progression between PC/consoles is bad idea
Why add to the issue by making it easier to move items between platforms? Bots on PC are up and running.
Why I think people want it.
- Money
- Bored
What I think the cost would be.
- Devaluation of items.
- Demotivation to play.
What ever. Throw out all the controls and meaning around the core of this game. See what happens.
I’ve already seen where that road goes. In the early 2000’s.
So people want this because money but it will devalue items? Ok. Maybe we just want more people to trade with. An extremely small amount of people actually trade for real money.
Pc has a huge user base. PS has a lot more players than xbox and I guess switch too. Item trade value is pretty similar across platforms especially in terms of item for item value
By all means. Ask. Lets the wolves in.
If they were dumb enough to allow cross-platform trading I’ll be here to say I told you so when the whole thing comes crashing down.
“Just watching the end”
They already allow cross platform trading. You just need two copies and a console/pc or a friend with both. This is actually a service you can trade fg for on jsp too. It already exists.
Diablo had a unified player base for its entire existence and now somehow this would be letting the wolves in? Whatever that means.
Just being able to trade with anyone on any platform doesn’t really make sense. The only way is true cross play and that most likely isn’t going to happen.
If you think it’s safe and you’ve thought it through let’s do it. Sign me up.
Safe? What are you even talking about
A safe choice is one that has minimal negative consequences.
I see 0 down side to having more people to play and trade with. I also don’t see any possibility of blizz implementing cross platform play, so it doesn’t really matter.
totally agree with scroogen
you act as if PC players can’t bring their bot finds to console. believe it or not, there’s a whole load of people who do that because items sell for more on console than PC
The Black Market
Notice “increase the incentive”.
From a notorious item trading site.
“I’m a PC player but also bought the game on Playstation in order to play with my brother. If anyone needs to buy an item from a PC player and get it on Playstation I’m happy to help for FG tips. Just let me know!”- User-1
They are interested in breaking down the barriers between platforms in their own trading communities to lower the “forum gold” cost of items. A textbook black market.
“Bless you, son. Been saying this kind of service needs to appear for ps community to flourish. Dont mind the haters that will come. And they will. You touched their pot of gold” -User-2
"Thanks! This will lower the crazy prices, gj"- User-3
High prices on consoles indicate a difficulty in sourcing items from PC to Console. It also indicates that consoles are not infested with Bots like the PC is. (High Supply = Low Demand) (Low Demand = Low prices)
The concern before launch
People do what brings them closer to their own goals. Whether it’s good, evil, or somewhere in the middle.
What seems simple on the surface is not the whole story. Do as you wish but understand the impact it has and who gains what when the dust settles.
This makes 0 sense. Why would they want to lower the value of items?? If I can make more value with the way cross trading is currently the absolute last thing I’m thinking is “wow I wish I would make less”
In your example this dude does 0 work. Just works as a middleman. If we could trade across platforms without owning multiple copies and systems that person would no longer be able to take advantage of people’s inability to trade.
Prices being lower on pc reflect a vastly increased user base, not a massive botting problem.
Did you actually watch the video? It’s required to have the whole picture.
Or a more “complete” picture really.
The general console community that uses the Black Market (Where Real/Forum Gold is used) wants lower prices compaired to PC prices.
They don’t care how the supply is created. Or where the supply comes from. They understand that if something is common the price goes down. A very basic understanding.
There are bots on PC and those people don’t care if they destroy the entire economy by supplying massive amounts of items to PC or console. They will sell their goods for cheaper and cheaper to get every last dollar or FG as the demand drops and drops.
This person is an example of the method of supplying PC items to Console. What it requires is multiple copies of the game (Limiting Factor) to move items which pass from Un-Secure PC to More Secure (Less Hacked/Functional) Consoles. A bottle-neck to the black market. It also highlights the desire people have to get their hands on items for console. If you want to keep the supply legit and prevent flooding then bottle necks are good.
The desire gamers have to play this game is tied directly to the scarcity of and difficulty to aquire items.
Carrot on stick, donkey chases.
Millions of carrots, Donkey Eats then does nothing.
There is a botting problem and large player base.
One botter using a program that is undetected can do a lot of damage. If they are selling items they buy multiple accounts, using them all at once.
This has all happened before. The more space between PC and Console for trading the better.
Were you here reading the night that drunk dude was ranting about the jsp mafia?
… Are you that guy?
And no. I will not be watching a dark lore dash YouTube video.
There is always a security risk ( the internet was not built upon security) …
There is always a work around …
The only people that benefit from no cross platform trading is Blizzard - as they get folks to buy multiple licenses …
If you want to play a “pure diablo” play in the offline mode.
