Are you afraid of the dark?

I watched a streamer the other day and it was like he was playing D2 near an atomic blast. (Max brightness setting)

Then I noticed everyone is doing it.

D2 is supposed to be dark an ominous and it looks like these guys still sleep with a night light.

But

I propose
A create game option that sets the brightness of the game.

No one can change it

The darkest setting allows for P3 when playing solo

D2 is soooooooo much better dark guys

I bet when the claw vipers turn off the lights you all poop your pants :stuck_out_tongue:

Because let’s be honest max brightness is SIGNIFICANTLY easier than max darkness

Especially HC

Yes I agree that’s lame. Funny enough the light radius mod doesn’t even seem to work in D2R. This was such a cool part of the game in Diablo 1 for instance a strategy would be to equip negative light radius! To activate aggro on less monsters. Now ya just blast through full tele. The fear is gone.

well the streamers are as hats… at least all the ones youtube management lets me see when searching diablo…

No, are you going to ask blizzard to make a code to stop me from going to the bathroom too?

Wow relax dude

Grab a snickers

Don’t worry you can still have your night light.

D2r has some issue with darkness, idk what is it exactly but light radious does almost nothing to help with it. Its definitely darker than original d2.

my monitor is really bad and even on full bright i cant see anything. THANK GOD FOR THE LIGHT RADIUS MOD. ITS THE BEST MOD EVER, I WISH THERE WERE MORE LIGHT RADIUS ITEMS IN THE GAME. GRIEF SHOULD GIVE +400 TO LIGHT RADIUS RATHER THAN DAMAGE.

I don’t think light radius was ever intended to illuminate the screen.

I would assume it’s working how they wanted it to.

Yep the constrasts are stronger in D2 LoD. They softened it on purpose. I Think they should have gone for a tad more contrast. Not overly much so, but a bit.

DUDE!!! This is the “Diablo” experience for me… being able to trade something negative for a positive you want. Or finding a good use for those negative stats. I miss these itemization ideas from D1.

Nothing is more terrifying than a full bladder and no rest stop in sight. Here’s some bonus loot to compensate for your discomfort.

This is basically most uniques in PoE.

Yeah there’s definitely some funky stuff with D2R’s lighting system in some ways, I noted that light radius is basically useless in D2R and posted some comparisons in this thread here:

Negative light radius is working normally, increased light radius is just a tiiiiiiny bit on the very edge of your light radius. I hope they fix it so that it’s the same effectiveness as original D2. Ironic coming from a guy named “DarkMaster”, I know.

Yeah honestly visibility is quite bad in d2r compared to old d2. It suck as i use filter on monitor already because of my eyes. So some places are quite dark. And i cant just boost gamma to max.

Its also often hard to see who is elite monster.

Yep and also some walls are opaque in D2R compared to transparent in original D2, the ones in Travincal are especially annoying and sometimes the walls near the entrance tiles in the Tower levels are also opaque.

It is darker because unlike the original it has proper PBR lighting, and there are often almost no lights.

I like how dark the game is now

I rather have hovering health bars as an option to fix visibility issues

Options like that make the game easier.

Do we really want to go down that path?

You know what makes the game easier?

Concentration ed benefits blessed hammer

Cold mastery has no diminishing returns

Corpse explosion requires lvl 6, starts from 70% to 120% dmg and is dual element

Lightning fury has the capability of infinitely produce bolts

And so on

So i dont think hovering health bars will have any impact in making the game easier

Still doesn’t change you wanting another easy thing added

And health bars change the whole look of the game that we love… changing it graphically is a big risk

It would minimum have to be a toggle, but I would rather them work on things that currently exist before they add more potential problems

I don’t mind the darkness, I just wish light radius actually worked to counteract it like it does in legacy graphics.

I wouldn’t mind a toggle for hovering health bars because it is a pretty nice feature of the console UI but it’s a separate matter to the visibility issues in my opinion.
