I have been playing the Diablo Franchise since it came out, and stuck with D2 until just before D3 was released. There has always been quite a bit of anarchy in the game when making an open game. But since D2R was released it has become crazy.
Make a cow game in Nightmare to find gems and runes - what do I get - 7 hell level characters. Games over in 30 seconds - and no one understands why I refuse to make another game. Make your own.
I have been doing a lot of Baal runs lately trying to get a Javazon to 99. I made a careful decision to go with COH instead of Enigma. TP is not as important to me as the resistances I get from the COH. I make a game specifically asking for no teleporting so like people can run with me. What do I get - 1 other non tp char and 6 teleporters/racers. It’s chaotic, and the non tp chars are left holding the bag trying to keep up and having to kill everything the tpers jump past, in order to get to the throne room. Do you not know how to make a game called telebaal xx. People used to be able to do that.
Then there are the leachers - in any type of open game. Make your own game, run with like minded people. don’t jump into someones else’s game and do something else for a higher P number. It’s just being a D***.
My rant for the decade. people, we have the greatest game ever. But the players are some of the most obnoxious people i have ever met. you haven’t chased me out o multi-player, but I am building a ban list of people I wont play with. So, when you see me make a game - pay attention to the description. If its cows - i will leave with the leg if you go against me. I am also quite happy to play solo, if i must. I enjoy company - but not at the expense of enjoying the game.
This probably won’t reach the people who most need to read it. QUIT BEING A**holes.
Set level restrictions, it will help somewhat. It won’t stop people who are highly equipped though.
One important rule about this game is… There are no rules, especially with public games. (Within reason) If you don’t want randos who don’t follow your rules, then you should consider either making games for only friends to join, or perhaps seek out a group of players on Discord, and formally agree on a game rule set beforehand.
Players leeching in public games won’t ever stop. Playing with friends or a group of players with similar interests will help mitigate this.
Yeah, and ironically enough this game also gives us the freedom to act how we we want to (within reason of course). If we want to be a bigot and PK others, we can. If we want to help others, we can. Peoples true colors are able to shine brightly in this game.
These are some of the reasons I’ve just gone back to SP, when I feel like playing. Between the elitists, over-caffeinators, room-ruiners, and wallet warriors (who are often the same people), it just really sucks the fun out of MP.
Best part about SP is you never have to see Mosaic. Or should I say “not see Mosaic” because you are likely already blind. Soon as that crap hit NL my online days of D2R were done.
That is something that level restrictions can help mitigate. It isn’t a perfect solution to the problem, but it will take care of a good portion of it.
I agree I really don’t like Mosaic fortunately it seems like there aren’t too many that play it anymore and if they do join you can always just leave.
When one person runs into an already crowded elevator and farts in it just before the door closes, the response shouldn’t be “hey, let’s all 7 of us walk out and let the have his own private elevator while the rest of us are now forced to take the stairs.”
A better analogy… you walk into an empty subway car, claim it as your own, and then try to dictate what people who come in can and cannot do inside of it.
At the end of the day, if you want to dictate what goes on in your game, make it a private game.
If you come to my game, how about being a respectful guest?
But this is the new philosophy of modern “freedom”: I don’t give a f… about what other people wish to do in THEIR games. I just don’t care about anything but MYSELF…
How about YOU opening games like: “Do what you want here” instead of killing other peoples’ games?
Sorry, but I have no sympathy for such a behaviour. If I join a game, and the host wishes to do a Baalwalk, I RESPECT HIS WISHES, goddammit.
What kind of society is this??? No wonder everything is going south these days…
Except the subway car didn’t EXIST until I specifically created it, named it “please don’t fart in here,” and then several other people came in and we were all having a good time, fart free… then YOU specifically entered it AFTER I named it that, WHILE I was in it, WITH other people… and YOU specifically farted in it.
And THEN you told the OTHER seven of us, “hey, you don’t like it, LEAVE. I’ll fart where I damn well please, y’all need to lock the door to keep me from farting in your faces.”
It’s not that hard to just NOT fart in other people’s faces, bro. You’re not worth 7 of us. You’re not even worth more than ONE of us.
Stop farting in our subway car. Go make your own to fart in.
Except, in this subway the company that actually runs the place kindly allows you to have your own private subway car with your own key. You decline this service, then get upset when people come in the unlocked car and start doing things that annoy you.
Never said anything about me. All I’m saying is, it’s ridiculous to expect a public game to adhere to your personal rules. Not sure why you’re getting so hostile.
