I Just installed the game
I tried running it as admin, service pack 3, and -w for windowed mode and still get this same error.

I’ve also seen people say they were able to fix it by using -nofixaspect in the shortcut. Finally, I’ve seen people say they got it to work by running game.exe as administrator and not with compatibility.
I already tried this and it didn’t work.
I said I tried admin.
Just to rule out any trouble associated with your user profile, try creating a new administrative user account and then try running the game from it.

This fixed it. Not sure what the issue with my main account is. but I’ll gladly play on a new account just to play this.
