so some of the metadata for toys and items seems to be broken

this can also be seen in vender cost and so on
I can also confirm this is an issue that has persisted for months now. At first I thought my code as at fault, but no, even the official api playground returns source_description with the first character cut off.
It would be nice if this got fixed.
