WoW Beta is not attached to your specific game license. It is attached to your Battlenet account.
From the drop down list above the play button, select “The War Within Beta”
Getting Started
Join us in testing The War Within. Players who have opted in can be selected to be testers, and invitations will go out regularly throughout the test. If selected to participate in the beta test, your Battle.net account will already be flagged for access. Players who upgrade to the Epic Edition of The War Within will also gain immediate access to the beta.
Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
Run the Battle.net® desktop app—it may need to update itself if you haven’t run it recently. If you don’t have the app installed, get started here.
Once Battle.net is installed and updated, select World of Warcraft from the list of games.
In the Game Version drop-down menu above the Play button, choose The War Within (listed under In Development) option, then click Install.
Allow installation to complete, click Play, and select any available Test Servers.
Create a new test character or use the character copy to import your existing Dragonflight character.
Enter the game and test the available content.
It will give you a clean slate of characters to make, or use a template. You can also import a character from an existing licence with DF, if Char Copy is working. That tends to be a bit
Here is a Blizzard blue post helping someone having the same confusion you have.
Hi! I have the epic edition. I have no “the war within beta” option in my app. I ALSO have none / no options under “in development”. I do have the options Live-classic and Live-World of Warcraft.
I have turned my computer on and off. I have logged out of the battlenet app and back in. There are no options in the app (at top, next to notifications) to update the app. I have shut the app down and restarted.
Other than no “IN DEVELOPMENT” section (and so no “The War Within Beta” option) my login looks like the screenshots above.
Any thoughts?
I’m having the same issue as well. I have the Epic edition and there is no sign of the beta. I keep hearing everyone who has it say I need it, but I have the hearthstone and the whole 9 yards.
I’d like to assume the invites even for epic is coming out in waves, but I’ll admit I am slightly annoyed with the lack of communication clearing this event up for those of us who paid to get into the beta, and no info on why we don’t have it.
That is usually how they do the invites - in waves. You are quite correct.
Updates tend to be on the World of Warcraft forums, not the Battlenet forums. Here is an example of the Blue post tracker on General Discussion yesterday.
If you do have the edition that grants Beta there are a few tricks you can try.
Totally log out of the Launcher. Go to the Blizz website account management section and change your password. That forces a full account data refresh. It will often force flags to pop up like they should. Then reboot the computer, and log back into the launcher.
Beyond that, keep an eye on the WoW forums, including Customer Support which is an Information Desk.
You are wrong though, when i launch the game i get the option (a box that pops up) saying wow1 and wow4, my actual account is wow2, i cant copy any of my charcters over as the account isnt there, so it is account specific, just not from the main launcher page.
I am afraid as an MVP I can’t see your account. We are other players. I can only ask if you are on the right Battlenet account? If you have more than one try your main one.
I also have never heard of a pop up asking someone to select a WoW account on launch.
The Beta access is granted at the Battlenet Level - and as shown in the screen shot is available to the Battlnet account via the drop down menu under the In Development Section.
Alright, so I found a fix that has been going around. If you have the Epic edition and you still don’t see the beta, here is your fix. You need to either uninstall or delete the Battle.net client, then re-download it. Seems there is a bug where the client won’t update, but say it is updated. Hope this helps you all.
THIS FIX WORKED
I was on an 11/2023 version of the battle.net client, (version 10.something) with no options to update. I deleted battlenet, reinstalled, looks like a 2/2024 date on the app (now version 11.something).
War within beta now shows on my battlnet app.
Thanks!
