Temporary Restrictions - Various

I guess as long as I’m not getting flagged for “malicious” activity that’s ok. Being able to play today for the first time since the ladder reset without a queue to make games was awesome. But I got temp banned last night and now again tonight…

Looking to see why i was restricted and when it will be lifted. New/Old player here i started again with this ladder reset after a 15 yr hiatus.
Logged in,Played 1 chaos run game and got the restricted message after trying to join the next game. I didn’t do anything in the link provided
Temporary Play Restrictions in Diablo II (2000) - Blizzard Support
that would cause this either in that game

realm restriction was lifted now im getting: “battle.net is not responding. please try connecting again in a few minutes” and “you were disconnected from battle.net please reconnect”

no idea whats going on

this is so dumb, i googled my messages and it says its most commonly associated with a perma ip ban. For what? for playing the game? ive literally been making characters and dying on hardcore for the past 2 weeks, and i get banned for nothing. Fix this blizzard, its embarassing

Got back online after about 45mins. Played another maybe < 10 runs and got restricted again. Didnt even get lvl 89-90.
If Blizzard changed any sort of game limit per Hours
they NEED TO TELL ITS PLAYERS

What fixes temporary bans(unless you have static IP) - just turn off your router for 5 minutes and turn it on. You will be assigned new IP and thus lifting temporary ban. By the way all the bot games are FINE. In fact I see much more bots these days then humans playing. That’s how bad and frustrating this is. After getting smashed few times like this you think ‘huh, how about another game that isn’t as screwed as this one, but not cause of my end, but cause of shi-tty company’.

Don’t expect help. Blizzard only cares for those Chinese monies now

I am also having the same problem. Running Diablo2 within a Windows 10 Parallels 15 environment. When I login, I can join a game, however as soon as I exit the first game i get a temporary ban for about 5-minutes. Once I go back in, it’s lifted and I’m fine for hours. anyone know what’s going on?

Ok, going to fast was a different kind of ban. Like a log out and temporary time out.

Now after learning the methods, and trying to take excessive amounts of time, the game does a different kind of Temporary Restriction.

The first was ok. But both guarantee your game vanishes along with anything left in it.

Drakuloth or Caterpepi can you tell me how long my temporary ban is going to last for buying the game? Yes you read that correctly, I bought the game and opened it, and was never able to connect. I did your hotspot trick and it works, but why in the should I be forced to use data on my phone just to wait in line to create a game? And before anyone mentions a VPN or any bull, no. I was not using a VPN.

bruh VPN temporary bans are usually 30 days. glhf. Blizzard is a bunch of tools

I’m so sad…pretty sure I lost my Tarnhelm, gull dagger, and all of my MF equipment because I was temp restricted again. I muled a crap ton of stuff hours earlier, then did a long thirty minute tomb run, then literally joined a game dropped some crap and went to get my mule and was restricted. I understand that Diablo II is probably the least of Blizzard’s worries currently @Drakuloth but it would be great if they would just put some general guidance on the main chat board or something so we know how move forward. I’m so incredibly upset that all of my gear is most likely now gone and the solution would take an admin literally ten minutes to compose some sort of best practices for not getting banned instead of a list of reasons why one would without further drilling down into clarifications on nebulous rules such as the how-man-games-can-I-join-before-blizzard-eats-all-of-my-stuff-im-trying-to-mule dance.

Finally I moved to PoD.

can you please stop temp banning me for playing the game while the entire Hell difficulty games list is bot games spamming and ruining the economy?

I play a few games and get restricted. 2nd time it has happened since the new Ladder started. Cant mule anything or you get dropped and cant play for 24 hours. This is getting old. People that play the game cant even play do to the realm down every time we join another game. Thought it would be fun to replay this game but is getting to be to much of a pain to play the way it is.

I really wish we would get some communication on this. Doesn’t even have to be"we’re working on this" or anything, just a quick nod to let us know that we’re not posting into a void.

Hey all,

Please be advised that we cannot review all of these issues within the scope of this one thread, and in general if you do have a temporary restriction there is nothing we do about it, as they are intended to protect the servers. You can submit a ticket to have the restriction double checked, but support will not reduce the duration either. The primary message that you will receive is “You were disconnected from battle.net” when you log in if you have a temporary restriction. If this happens, check the link above to make sure you’re not doing any of the things that get a temporary restrictions, and test a different realm (uswest, useast, etc).

There are also a number of issues being reported here which are NOT related to the temporary restrictions.

  • CD Key in use errors are not a temporary restriction. They either mean that your CD key is compromised or your character is stuck online. This should automatically resolve itself within 24 hours. If it doesn’t, submit a ticket.

  • Queues to enter games are not related to this issue. These are happening due to high usage of the servers at the moment. We’re aware of this issue and working on it.

  • CD Key has been disabled is not a temporary restriction. This means that your CD key has been banned for one reason or another. Commonly this happens if the key is refunded or is witnessed hacking on an account. Ensure that you are very protective of your CD keys and do not share them or enter them anywhere but battle.net, as all usage on the keys is your responsibility.

  • Being disconnected is not due to a temporary restriction. A temporary restriction will not allow you to connect to the game server at all.

To prevent this thread from being further spammed with lookup requests which are unrelated to the original lookup requests, I’m going to close it up. Hopefully this provides some more insight as to what’s going on here.
