Same Error with Diablo. All methods shown in Troubleshooting didn’t work. No help from forums, no help from Techs…
Same here for Diablo, although I did track it to Reclaming Space during Install, also any game will install only and only on NTFS filesystem - exFat, Fat32 and FAT seem to fail on Initialization. I can conclude that in is some issue of how installer deals with the filesystem and/or actually writing file to the disk.
There’s an old post by Blizzard here that confirms that the drive needs to be internal (not external) and formatted as NTFS: Game seems to be stuck on waiting on another update - #2 by Caterpepi - Technical Support - Diablo 3 Forums

My drive on NTFS and has 72 Gb free space. Don’t think it is Disk issue

Just bought Diablo 1 but cant do any Updates. What am I suppose to do now?
You can wait a few days and see if it fixes itself up… this topic is already a week old, so Blizzard probably knows about the issue.
Or you can refund it now… especially if you bought from the Blizzard Shop, and wait until it’s fixed and then re-purchase it.
