Don’t suppose there’s any new info is there?
Repeating interest by bumping.
i also would LOVE to see some sort of D2R API made available and would like to add a quick thought on something that would enable an incredible amount of fun/value…
a public event log/ledger publishing trade data.
this would enable services enriching D2R’s economy. one example could be a real time price ticker and analysis tools based on historical prices and trends.
my proposal as to how it would work is pretty simple. everytime a trade occurs, its details get posted to a public ledger whose integrity is ensured through battlenet server side. for privacy and security related issues, bnet could simply exclude the trading parties identities and attach a transaction id to what is made public.
obviously the value of an accurate public record readily accessible to everyone in the D2R community would enable everyone to more confidently price items. this in turn means more trading as less time is spent trying to (or getting) ripped off. it also means more favorable and fairer trades would tend to show up more frequently, etc. etc.
but, aside from these most important things that would be enabled by a public trade transaction data API would be all of the other fun and interesting things that would be made possible.
dont get me wrong. having detailed data on game play events such as damage taken and kill speed and what not would be really cool… but trade data??? it would improve the entire community and make the game even MORE fun!
I care less about trade data and more about being able to view/manage inventory better across characters. Managing inventory is one of the poorest player experiences in D2R right now, and could be immensely better if the community could build tools to help players read (and maybe write) inventory data.
Hopeful d2 player/developer here. Would love to build an inventory management system to make managing all of my mules and their items better. Even if its just read access to the data and not write, that would be very helpful
