Hi all,
Out of a bit of nostalgia I wanted to play The Frozen Throne, however I cannot. When I launch the game I get the error described here: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/blizzard/t/cant-play-frozen-throne-after-battlenet-update/3168
I have the original discs (Warcraft 3 and the expansion as well). According to battle.net I have these redeemed. At least I see “Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne” when I go the Games & Subscriptions.
What could be the problem and how can I resolve this? Appreciate your help in advance.
Slight correction: it seems I have the Reforged version installed. However, I for sure downloaded the classic game client and this is what got installed.
How can I install the original game?
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have access to that page. That’s where I downloaded the client from. I specifically downloaded the client for Frozen Throne. What it installed seems to be the Reforged version. I tried to download the right client again, ended up with the same results.
(I’m on Mac, however I doubt that it should make any difference.)

Hey Calyd,
For the error, you specifically need a RoC key registered to your Battlenet account. A TFT key won’t work.
As for downloading, despite the options on the downloads page, the only officially available version is Reforged. So no matter which option you choose, it will always be Reforged.

Thanks. Do I get it right that I need to find my original Reign of Chaos disc and register that one?

Yep! You should be good to go after that (assuming the Battlenet account you link the CD key to is the same that you log into the game with).

Hi. I redeemed the CD key for the original Reign of Chaos, and the game started just fine. Thanks for the help.
