Exactly, they just want your money. They probably regret making it free-to-play and this is their way to get more cash from the game, without actually having to say “it is not free-to-play anymore”.

I have already downloaded Call of Duty: Modern Warfare yet I need to have a phone number to play it. So I go to add my phone number and I have this same problem. I am a U.S.A. citizen, my phone isn’t prepaid, and I have checked and rechecked that I have put my phone number in correctly.

yeah i have same error i cannot change my region or add a phone number wtf is happen. i hope they will do something about it cuz much player will leave this game

Nice… wanted to play COD warzone and come to find out the phone issue everyone else is having, so am I? Postpaid phones to use the game??? Ridiculous…and to think I was going to pay the monthly subscription to play world of warcraft but after this…has left a very bad taste in my mouth and will NOT be subscribing for WOW…I’ll go play private instead. Thanks blizzard!

I am having the same issue. After making a ticket to support and getting the need to buy full version then to play i sent another ticket accusing them of forcing people to have to buy full version for free to play. Its called squandering. The only reasoning I can think of is that since they are supposed to be in with activision is that they are helping activision by forcing people to buy the game and getting a kickback for it . sounds ridiculous at first but think about it. Its all about money. if u can afford att or sprint you can afford to buy extras on games. if you cant then less likely to buy extras so we dont matter. If you run out and buy the full version u at least show that u have some money they can get u to spend. You can only defeat such a thing in numbers, but only if they stay to the task. If this effected enough people that it would hurt their revenue then u would see something done about it. Sadly it wont so we wont. Its a shame a person cant choose to play a free game anymore because of their preference to save money on phone bill and their choice of carrier. Next will be your banking status and a credit check to see if they want a broke man on their game taking up space a rich man sould have… Sorry about the rant but people gotta realize we gave conglomerates to much power and now we are powerless. Activision and Blizzard you both suck, your service sucks, and your help sucks… Ban me idgaf because I could care less. I hope your buisness burns and your stocks fall out the bottom and that all your uppity board members go broke and they all see what it is to be hindered by your actions that have nothing in common with what you are doing… SO F@%$ YOU ACTIVISION AND BLIZZARD

This is a disgrace from the side of Blizzard! Something should be done! They are using illegal ways to prevent us from playing a FREE game on their platform!!!
We cannot add our phone numbers because they only accept numbers from the primary provider, and not from a third party provider even if it were postpaid!!! So you need to get a pricier phone number just so you play a free game! What is FREE about that?
We should all let them hear our voice and force them to back off this decision. This is totally unfair and should not be even permitted by a company like Blizzard!!!

Smh same, I wanted to get Cod Warzone but even if you don’t put in a number to download, you have to wait until its done downloading but then can’t even play the game. Blizzard is complete trash with this.

yeah i am too having the same issue and i have tried with different phone #s and its the same problem
I’m having the same issue, but sadly its much worse. I’m using a well known Canadian phone provider (freedom mobile) and I am still having the same issues. funny thing is that I PAID OFF my phone completely. I even linked my Xbox account to my blizzard account as I paid for stuff in game on Warzone so I put money into the games I play.

Having the exact same issue as Warmouth above. Using a well known Canadian service provider (Freedom) and it is coming up as invalid, also tried my partners number (also on Freedom) and same result.
I emailed customer support and they didn’t have any work around, just that I needed to have a valid number in my region etc. which I obviously do.
This means no Warzone and no 4 extra slots in my WoW bag and most importantly no authenticator unless I switch my mobile to probably Telus or Rogers.
PLEASE sort this blizzard it’s an unnecessary barrier and ridiculous.

Same here. I’m on Freedom mobile in BC, Canada. My buddy has no issues on Freedom with a 604 area code, but my 778 is “invalid” because reasons???
I’ve never had a credit with this phone carrier. I own my phone and pay a monthly sub with debit.
Thanks dude but that is not a viable option. If I had a gf I probably wouldn’t be playing this game lol.

I have a 604 area code and it’s not working. Might be hit and miss. I really think it’s a joke tbh, I was told the only way for me to play WZ for example is to buy Modern Warfare…AGAIN (I already have it on ps4). LOL.

Same issue. **** blizzard, uninstalling immediately. It took me a day to install this game just to get an error. I have cricket wireless along with sooooo many other people. Byeeeeee blizzard see ya
