Chapter II
Frankfurt am Main “Adlib club”
Trip to Karlsruhe
David suggested going to the Gibson club or the Velvet Club. As a result, Gibson club turned out to be the closest to us. Great place. Everything is in motion. The music is rocked by a DJ. The bar is open. The DJ raises the bass more and more. A huge crowd, mostly young people from 20 to 30 years old. Everything is in motion. It remains to hang out and immerse yourself in the DJ’s music. The place is excellent in three floors. On the ground floor there is the first dance floor, where there was the main DJ party, a huge bar. There is another dance floor on the second floor, and you can go up to the third floor and stand on an improvised balcony.
We went up to the second floor, it was already about midnight. The mood is excellent. There is fire, smoke and flames all around, a wave of heat is coming from dancing people. David and I stood at the bar and drank a couple shots of vodka. They were looking for a place to land. The hunters looked around and went hunting. “Girls, hold on to your skirts. We will make blanks.” In the club itself, time is rushing at a tremendous speed. Everything is in motion. An endless stream of human energy is released every second.
On the second floor we sat down at a small table with a good view. The whole dance floor and the hall were visible. Ordered juice with ice. Your eyes are looking at all 360 degrees and at some point I caught the gaze of a young girl of about 20 who was sitting next to us at a table surrounded by three more friends. We started a game of looks. I gave her a frank, direct look. We looked into each other’s eyes for a while. I don’t give up and I don’t take my eyes off her. She smiled sweetly. I smiled back at her. Involuntarily, her eyebrows went up a little with a question: “What are you looking at me for, you prankster?”. A smile flashed across her face again.
I wanted to approach her and thought how best to do it, there was one problem that they were sitting in four, three girls and one guy. After a while, the guy and the girl went somewhere.
Nikita: “David, let’s go while there is no one here at that table, where two girls with whom we exchanged glances remained sitting alone.”
David: “Let’s go up to them and see what happens.”
Nikita: David, you’re my guide to a new life. I didn’t know German at all. Let’s go find out what their mood is and feel the situation.
David and I went to a table with these cute and charming night fairies.
Nikita: “Hi, I said to the very girl with whom we exchanged glances.”
The stranger said: "Hello and did not raise her right hand high, but her fingers of her elegant right hand slightly bent in greeting. She looked at me for a while. I was looking at her.
David: “He leaned over to the girls and gave them something. They started laughing. I felt a little uncomfortable, because it was absolutely not clear what they were talking about and what they were talking about.”
That’s when we met. It turned out that the girls’ names were Elena and Vanessa.
David: “He slapped me on the shoulder and said: “We’re all moving to their table.”
Nikita: “David, didn’t they sit in four?”.
David, said: “You don’t see that they have already stayed together and invited us to their table.”
Nikita: “David, that’s great, great,” I repeated, and we lightly banged our right fists in the direction of our hands against each other.
I was looking at the menu. The German speech of the girls was replaced by English. but it definitely didn’t make me feel any better. We all began to communicate in English, and some moments were voiced to me by David in Russian. It was fun. We were laughing all the time. The mood was on the rise for everyone.
We ordered a bottle of black rum with David. Bring a bucket of ice. Juice. the heat went for all the money. For a while we sat talking about who, where, why, where, when, what and how, but mostly we had a dance on the dance floor. Elena and Vanessa were friends and studied together. David poured black rum into the glasses for everyone. We raised the stacks clinked glasses, there was a ringing of the stacks. I said: “For the acquaintance! For the meeting!”.
Most of the time was spent on the dance floor, but sometimes we took turns returning to the table to have a little rest and a drink. Vanessa liked the black rum very much and she greedily emptied the glasses. We finished one bottle of black rum and ordered a second.
The DJ went on hits to get the audience stronger. The sad song “About Unhappy Love” didn’t play much, it was some kind of hit. Everything happened somehow quickly, events suddenly began to wind up faster. This song was playing, Lena, turned her back to me and slightly touched my chest, put my hands around her waist, and her hands slightly touched my neck. Not so fast and not so slow, we began to move in a sensual dance to the rhythm of the music playing. Sometimes it was like a wave of two bodies.
At some point, she turned her head and looked into my eyes with her sensual light gray eyes, in which I drowned. Dissolved. And disappeared forever. The hunter who went out to hunt himself became a victim. My thoughts got confused and I was finally confused by her amazing look. Absolutely fascinated by her beauty. She beckoned me to her.
The DJ has already turned on some other music. Elena turned to me and at some point our lips touched. A very soft and gentle touch, like you’re kissing a delicate rosebud. For a moment we seemed to freeze and our kiss seemed to last forever.
Perhaps we ordered the second bottle of “Black Rum” in vain, as it was never finished in the end. I looked at the time it was already around 05:00 in the morning. The club was noticeably empty, but some more people were dancing, and the DJ was pumping music to the full.
David slapped me on the shoulder and said, “Nikita, I’m going home.”
I asked David: “You won’t stay? Didn’t you like it, Vanessa?”.
David, he told me: “We have to go, then we’ll talk and they started laughing.” We shook hands and after a while the figure of David dissolved on the stairs of the second floor.
The three of us sat in the club for a while longer. I paid the bill with a credit card. Vanessa, picked up a half-drunk bottle of “Black Rum” from the table. We started laughing that it was a robbery and we were taking everything with us that was left on the table. The three of us left the club. There was a taxi parked on the opposite street. I wanted to take Elena and Vanessa home in a taxi. We crossed to the opposite street and got into a taxi.
Elena tried to explain something to me, but this situation was incredibly comical because we weren’t drunk a lot and I couldn’t figure out what was going on and where we were eating. At first I couldn’t understand why we came to Frankfurt train station. The ancient building looked at the three of us in the morning with some kind of early morning malice. The Frankfurt station itself is made in the form of a huge dome, into which 25 access railway tracks lead. Frankfurt Station seemed incredibly huge.
We got off at the station and I paid the taxi driver. I spread my hands to the sides, what’s going on?
Nikita: “Where have we arrived?”. Vanessa, do you live here somewhere with Elena, did I push?”.
Elena: “No. Elena and Vanessa started laughing even harder. Vanessa, save me from him.”
Vanessa: “Nikita, give me your phone and Vanessa gestures showed me that she wants to write me a text in English in a translator.”
Vanessa was standing there writing something in English and then handed me the phone back. There was a short inscription that he and Elena were going to another city of Karlsruhe, since they live there. The distance between Frankfurt and Karlsruhe is about 150 kilometers, which takes about two hours to get there by train. I finally understood the symphony of what was happening.
All right, Vanessa. I had some confusion for a couple of minutes. On the phone in the translator I typed: “Can I go to the train station with them and treat them to morning coffee?”, since there was no desire to go home to my aunt and uncle. Vanessa, took out a bottle of “Black Rum” from her purse and took a big sip and gave it to me. I also took a couple of sips of rum and we went to the Frankfurt train station.
Frankfurt Station was a huge 25 railway tracks represented a huge transport artery of Germany. On the ground floor there are small shops.
On the second floor there were a couple of cafes where you could drink coffee. We sat down in front of the bar and the bartender came up to us. We ordered three black coffees and one cappuccino. While we were making coffee. I had an idea what to actually think about a date with Elena, which is unlikely to take place. Why wait for tomorrow, what needs to be done today, I thought?
Elena was from another city. Maybe we’ll never see each other again, I thought. I went down to the first floor and went into a flower shop. Without thinking for a long time, I took the largest vase with roses and handed them to the woman so that she tied them with a red ribbon and counted them. There were 35 roses. A lucky number, I thought. I swiped a credit card, paid for the flowers. I took all this bunch of roses, which were tied with a red ribbon, and returned back to the coffee, where Lena and Vanessa were already drinking coffee. I walked over to the table.
On the contrary, Elena, got down on one knee and said: “The most beautiful, charming and sweet girl and handed her a huge bouquet of roses. My eyes asked her if she would accept this gift from me?”. Elena looked at me with surprise and admiration, and in her eyes there was some kind of riddle that I had to solve. Her face expressed a huge amount of emotions and happiness and joy and embarrassment. We were drinking coffee and all three of us were in a great mood.
I decided to act absolutely improvised based on the situation . While we were drinking coffee. I addressed a single question to Vanessa and Elena, who were drinking black coffee at that time. Can I go to Karlsruhe with them, as it will be interesting for me to see not only the city of Karlsruhe, but also to keep them company.
Vanessa and Elena talked about something for a couple of minutes, and then Vanessa took out a “Black Rum” from her purse, shook a bottle of “Black Rum” slightly and said that I should go with them and they would show me the city of Karlsruhe and the pyramid in the center of Karlsruhe. The Karlsruhe Pyramid is a red sandstone pyramid located in the center of Karlsruhe Market Square. It was erected in 1823-1825 over the crypt of the founder of the city, Margrave Charles III Wilhelm (1679-1738).
We went down from the second floor of the station and went to buy tickets. We bought three Frankfurt-Karlsruhe tickets, stood on the platform for a while while waiting for the train. We went into our carriage and sat down in the seats that were indicated on the tickets. Elena sat down by the window, and I sat to her left so that I could stretch out and sit more comfortably. Vanessa sat down across from us. The train started and we went. I was a little seasick on the train, and therefore I began to pull myself into sleep more strongly. Not so many people were traveling on Sunday morning. The car was half empty. Elena, clasped my left arm with her hands and put her head on my left shoulder, slightly pressed against me. The three of us could see how tired we were. I looked at my watch it was about 10:30. The train slowed down and began to slow down. The train went very slowly for a while, then stopped.
We came out on the platform of Karlsruhe. It was raining. The rain was lashing the asphalt and we didn’t have an umbrella, for a while we stood under the canopy of the platform and for a while Elena and Vanessa said that we needed to find a taxi and maybe a free taxi was standing next to Karlsruhe station.
The rain intensified and poured like a bucket. Elena, gave me a bouquet of roses, so that I could carry it, since the bouquet was huge. We held hands with her so as not to get lost. At first we walked very fast, and then we ran for a while, although there was no point in that anymore, since we were completely soaked. The only joy was that there was one empty taxi standing next to Karlsruhe station, to which we all ran together. The taxi was our luck and salvation. While we were driving in a taxi, Vanessa fell asleep and it came to wake her up in 20 minutes.
We stopped at a five-storey building, which was made in the old style like most of the buildings in Germany that you could see. The Germans treat architecture and ancient city buildings with care and respect, which are usually in perfect condition, sometimes it seems that they were built yesterday. Although the buildings themselves may be of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
We climbed a huge vintage staircase to the fourth floor. Elena, for a long time looking for the keys to the apartment, we alternately began to sneeze because we got pretty wet in the rain. We entered the apartment, which was made in the old style of the 19th and early 20th century. Rare paintings hung on the walls of the apartment. The architecture and design of the apartment itself has not changed much since the 19th century. I thought that nobles or aristocrats of Germany lived here.
I was standing in the lobby of the apartment and looking at the interior of the apartment. An interesting engineering solution. There was no corridor, but there was a single huge oval-shaped hall. We were absolutely all three soaked. Elena, put her little woman’s wet purse on the floor. I handed Elena a bouquet of roses, which she took to her bedroom.
I took off my soaked sneakers, wet T-shirt, wet socks and stood barefoot on the floor, looking at a picture of a burning city. The painting was very beautifully executed. The very scene in the picture told us: “Burning Pompeii”, by Karl Bryullov.
Lena, came up to me from behind. She took my hand and led me to show me the apartment. On the left there was a bath and there was also a toilet. The next door is another bath and a second toilet. Then there was the bedroom. Living room. Office. Canteen. All this was not closed by a large kitchen. I wanted to ask Lena: “Where is the maid’s room, can I go through?”.
Lena took my wet T-shirt and hung it up to dry in the bathtub. At that time I went into the spacious living room, where there was a huge leather white sofa, a coffee table that was made of glass and stood on gilded steel legs.
A large TV panel is hanging on the wall. I sat down on the white sofa and my back sank into the soft cushion of the leather sofa. The apartment was warm and I warmed up quickly. I wanted to turn on the TV, but I saw that the wire and plug were disconnected from the network. While I was waiting for Elena, I stretched out full length on the couch and my eyes closed for a moment and I fell asleep around 12:00.
I woke up because I was very hot. I was covered with something, it turned out to be an ordinary woolen blanket. It was already about 18:30 almost evening. My head didn’t crack a lot from yesterday’s music, but it didn’t hurt. My phone was vibrating in my pocket. I took my phone out of my pocket.
Nikita: “Hi David, I said in a sleepy voice.”
David: “Nikita, hi, are you still alive there? Where are you? What was the end of last night?”.
Nikita: “David, I am now in another city - Karlsruhe. I’m trying to figure out the current difficult situation.”
David: “How did you get there, David asked?”.
Nikita: “I don’t know. These are demons. Damn demons. I began to laugh, thinking that there was no plan for how events would develop further was unknown.”
David: “Nikita, what city are you in now?”.
Nikita: “To Karlsruhe with sadness in my voice, I replied.”
David: “Are you all right, do you have money for a return ticket?”.
Nikita: “David, everything is fine with the money, everything is in order.”
David: “Nikita, when you arrive, come to my office and tell me how this whole story ended.”
Nikita: “Well, David, as soon as I return to Frankfurt, I will definitely run to you.” Come on, buddy. While.
David: “Bye, Nikita.”
Nikita: “David, I’ll call you back later.”
David: “All right. Bye.”
Nikita: “Bye, David. I’ve dropped the call.”
