Oh, I understand why he’d be in Revendreth on that basis. But he could just as easily ended up in Bastion. Or Mal’Draxxus.
There’s also a stunning lack of people we SHOULD see in Revendreth. Since we’re looking at troll stuff… .where’s Llane Wrynn’s sinstone? You know the guy whose pride and wrath led him on a joyride genocide through Stranglethorn’s jungles, culminating in him using Medivh as a magical nuke against the trolls… all of which ended up turning border skirmishes into a full-on war that resulted in mass carnage on both sides, the death of Llane’s own father, and a second Medivh-powered nuke to eradicate even more trolls?
because in Blizzard’s writing, trolls are inherently bad, evil and degenerate, and deserve to be killed en masse. They are a lesser race and it’s fitting for the superior races, who are uniformly pale skinned with fine hair and light eyes, go figure, to exterminate them, enslave them, subjugate and oppress them. These things are presented as heroic acts, or at least always justified.
But if a troll decides to fight back, well it’s purgatory or hell for you, buddy.
I mean honestly it’s kind of galling. Zul’Jin has to “work off his sins” for fighting back against people who had nearly wiped out his own, taken their lands, and were poised to finish the job with new allies (who, as it happened, had also betrayed the Amani twice)
…but then you get Lady Vashj over there in Maldraxxus. You know, the servant of the Old Gods who enslaved and murdered hundreds on Draenor, with the plan of collecting all that shattered planet’s water and using that to enslave the rest of the world’s population to use as cannon fodder against the Legion? Not even a pit stop for her, she dropped into Maldraxxus and becomes part of a House’s leadership in under a decade. Not that Maldraxxus is some great palce to be, but it’s better than “You have to be punished for -checks notes- trying to not be exterminated”
