Zul’Aman “Catch Up”?

I keep reading that Zul’Aman is a “catch up” raid, but I’ve not found an explanation of what that means. I’d appreciate it if someone could help me understand that.

Also, I also believe that more items will be available through badges, but I haven’t been able to locate a list. Does one exist, or are we still waiting for more information?

I’m just now nearing level 70, and I’m working on my Tailoring sets. I am trying to figure out the best gearing path forward and how these catch-up mechanics might fit into the overall plan.

Thanks for all input!

go to wowhead, and look at the item database filters. Choose gear purchasable at vendor, then filter by phase. Sort those by ilevel, then you have the new list of drops and bedge items.

it’s an easier raid that requires 10 people that drops loot that has a power level roughly between t5 and t6 - some items being better than t6. It’s meant to be loot that you can catch up to current content with.

It’s gear that’s almost T5 level or slightly better but is a 10 man instance.

Zul’Aman wont save classic tbc it has been a raid log game since the end of phase 1.

Lower barrier to entry, higher gear result than other options. It’s gear comparable to BT/Hyjal on a difficulty slightly more than Karazhan.

P5 should help. Adding the Isle and a new dungeon, both with great rewards, will help a lot. It’s why P4 is coming so soon after P3, and likely P4 won’t last long either.

In ZA you get gear that is actually good and at BT/Hyjal level sometimes (timed loot).

Thanks all!

Would I be ready for ZA in a combination of Spellstrike and Spellfire gear from Tailoring? My understanding is that for Mages, these pieces lasted through T4. Of course, I’d need to fill out the rest of my gear with equivalent or better pieces.

Or, should I be looking at upgrades in other raids first?

It doesn’t need saving…people are playing it as it is.

You are unsure of the definition of “catch up”?

The raid is full of that red sauce you put on fries… duh

I thought it was a “must tard” raid, which is why I always pull before the tank.

The items are between t5 and t6 in quality with a spattering of BiS pieces. It allows you to take a brand new toon and get them “caught up” enough to raid with an established raid gear wise.

10man raids are easier and more casual than 25man raids.
ZA drops item on par with or better than T5 content (SSC/TK).
ZA drops badges that can be used on the new badge vendor gear that is also on par with or better than T5 content (SSC/TK).

In short, ZA makes gearing up alts and filling in slots you’ve not upgraded since Karazhan much easier. I’ll probably buy the leather badge boots if Mother continues to never drop hers. If you’re just now starting out at lvl70, you’ll still want to get better than just leveling gear to go into ZA, but with badges becoming a premium item again for the new gear, Heroics/Kara/ZA should be running nonstop. A few weeks of that and you’ll be essentially better off than a lot of us were while waiting for T6 to drop.

ZA stuff has some really good items.
