Zones are... empty?

Am I missing something. Since I have started I have seen maybe… 8-10 players. I’m 52 and just hearthed back to Org… and its empty. There’s almost no one anywhere. Trade chat is going crazy, but everywhere I go is empty.

This all some kind of weird phasing/sharding going on? Bastion is empty. Org is empty. I can’t imagine there is this many people already ahead. For a launch this seems a tad excessive. Dare I say it… it’s kinda lonely.

I’m lonely while my bf and friends are playing and i am not able to.

I have seen the same three players for three hours…and that is why WM is now off.

I feel the same in the Maw and Bastion. I think we’re supposed to feel a bit more “lone special champion” while we’re seeing the story. Once we ding 60 and hit a hub, we’ll probably hit much larger shards.

I’ve Shimeji has seen a few dozen other players running about, killing quest mobs etc., but it does feel pretty quiet. However I’ll take this over a crush of people tagging all the mobs and not being able to progress due to that.

I’m sure if it feels more empty than Blizzard wanted they will dial back the sharding just a touch. For now I’m ok with it.

I’m in WM and have only seen two people, both of opposite faction. One dude tried to attack me in Bastion and he got nuked by guards. Then he left me alone, lol.

It does feel empty, but I know it’ll open up later once we’re all the same level/phase. For now I’m enjoying the peace of having the place almost to myself. I get to enjoy the story and take my time.

Yes I noticed that too. Been on several servers and org is almost completely empty except a few people.

Yea, I have had WM on and have seen maybe 4-5 Alliance. A few horde. It’s really strange. Even going back to the old cities it’s completely empty. Saw just two people while sitting in Org for about 4-5 minutes. Were it not for trade, I’d assume something was broken. Maybe it is.

Game just crashed and now I’m getting a compatibility error… Welp, this stinks. :frowning:

Hrm. Yea, I mean, I wouldn’t mind some of that in the starting areas. But even in bastion its a ghost town.

Sure. I’m not saying it’s wrong, just, feels off for a launch day. Kinda miss the launch day shenanigans. It’s weird. With all this covid stuff going on and working from home, I was kinda looking forward to the chaos.

I finally got in and yeah, same. Hardly seeing anyone. Honestly not much fun, feel like I’m playing a sandbox game. I’m finding also that this has already killed my desire to bring any alts through. It’s too tedious. I think it’s time I retired every alt and took a play out of my friends book and only ever play one character. I already have zero desire to do any of this again and I am still in Bastion.

Maybe aggressive sharding is how they’ve managed to keep the launch so smooth? I experienced zero issues the whole time I played, which is absolutely amazing.

I think it’s due to sharding, though I’ve seen at least a dozen players at a time (but not all the time).

That’s good. It’s been pretty laggy for me. Takes 3-5 seconds to turn in each quest. Sometimes I’m just waiting for the next thing to happen realizing whatever I clicked on didn’t actually work. Not even a complaint honestly. I expect some lag. Just, feels off. I was looking forward to seeing lots of people. =/

That said, I can’t log on now. Getting an error.

Yeah after the very first few quests in the Maw everyone disappeared but I can’t complain because that’s what kept everything so smooth tonight

I wasn’t playing with it on, but I still saw very few other players. Except for in the main city (Orbos?)… and I’m on a Full pop realm. Wondering how small the shards are.

I agree it does seem very quiet for the first day of a new expansion. Could Blizzard have really upped the phasing to manage the numbers and maybe dialled it a bit far?

They Sharded SL harder than Shadowstrike in an MC farming team.

Yeah, I understand and agree. After playing a while longer, the emptiness started getting to me, so I stopped playing. The silence is almost…oppressive. I think I’d rather go back to players mobbing the quest givers and crashing the servers. At least if I were in a long queue I’d know other people were waiting to play

It’s almost like Blizz overdid something server-side and gave everyone their own shard lol.

Well i do like the sharding it may have been over done . I would see the same 10-12 ppl allie / horde in Bastion and it did feel empty i tried to get ppl talking in chat but not much there.

Most likely this is the case. Funneling every single person into the same zone would have been an absolute nightmare if not for sharding everything.

Still laggy here too, and taking 3 or 4 seconds for things to happen sometimes, but there is no-one else around. I don’t want to be full on competing heaps for tags etc., but this feels like I’m playing a single-player game. Certainly doesn’t have any of the excitement or fun atmosphere of a usual expansion launch. Pretty underwhelming and uninspiring if I’m honest. If this is deliberate, it’s way overdone imo.

Wait till you get to maldraxxis. You’ll be surrounded by alliance.
