The Zombie infection buff from the plague boxes does not appear to be working the way it is supposed to.
It seems to be the case for both players, and with the NPCs as well, but once infected, when you die, you just… die. You don’t turn into a zombie, you lose the zombie buff and you just corpse walk and try to reinfect yourself if any zombies survived… which also have a timer before their health runs out because they lose health every second.
It makes gameplay, much harder and frustrating and from an immersion point of view it doesn’t make sense. Imagine if in a zombie movie, a person gets bit and then they bleed out from their bite and die and then they’re just dead. Zombie apocalypse solved.
It is now apparent that Blizzard did this on purpose, is ignoring anyone who mentions the event has been changed and will continue “fixing” the game and ignoring anyone who cares about not making changes.
Been waiting for years for this zombie event and its way too much of a pain to do so far. Lvl 75 guards just spawn and kill everything. The zombies aggro critters and chase them acrross the map but ignore everything else that doesn’t attack them. And you can’t control the zombies when they’re in combat. Even with 5 minutes duration of the disease its almost impossible to get any traction as the zombies just die over time to their timed HP and even if you manage to get 50 zombies they just stay in one spot and die off before infecting anything.
Blizzard seemed to be more communicative or attentive on Classic forums from what i’ve seen. At least with the Classic team.
Well probably because of the reactions from both back then (2008) and back with Shadowlands pre-patch, which both weren’t all that well received? Just a guess.
People are trying to level up for Wrath during the pre-patch. Leveling up >>> allowing griefing. Consider it a consolation token that they even considered bring it back in the first place.
It’s called the scourge invasion. It’s called playing the game. It’s not griefing to be on a 3rd faction and engaging in PvP
It’s complete nonsense that they put it back in but altered it. Either don’t put it at all or make it exactly the same as it originally was. I’m not even sure they changed it on purpose. But if they did, I’m guessing they’re just going to refuse to acknowledge the change
Try thinking it about it from my perspective: the last time the zombie event went live in the original wrath it was one of the most fun experiences I ever had in a videogame. For years after it happened I made forum posts asking for it to happen again. And then when BC came out, I thought: “well Wrath is probably going to come out again… does that mean they’ll do the zombie event again???” And then a few weeks ago I hear the news, that YES, they’re going to do it again. Suffice it to say, I was extremely excited.
I’ve literally been waiting years for this and every time i try to get a zombie outbreak going, even in a small leveling hub the zombies barely do anything and I just die several times thanks to the health timer. It’s extremely frustrating and dissapointing that I’m not able to enjoy the original event again as it originally happened. I can only go off old memories
Yeah, thanks for “spreading awareness” on a forum for non-classic players? I have intentionally not played classic at all, and have no desire to. Your post deserves deletion.
Blizzard remembers the complete meltdown temper tantrum the players had with the original event before they nerfed it. I would imagine they are using the nerfed version.

People have had months to level up. The event is 2 weeks. Gods forbid you have to participate in a one time event.

Literally. And I hate this “compromise” mentality. If they dont want the event they shouldn’t have done it at all. The way it is the zombies will only actually disrupt anything for a single day. Less than the original 4.

Don’t worry. It’s still disrupting a LOT. I’ve killed many leveling people so far and made all their quest givers zombies
It is not hilarious. It is quite obvious. They have an entire section for Retail and one for Classic. There is one specifically for your Classic Bug Report and yet you refuse to use the correct tools to get your issue the notice that it requires. THAT is what is amusing.
