Zombie distrupting rare spawns in ice crown

Isn’t it known exactly when he spawns? Why did you wait for 3 hours?

I’m pretty sure that song was about the fighting in Northern Ireland 30 years ago.

In addition to the reply about how you can be flagged outside the city, let me also add:

What does it matter if it was mentioned in the past?

-I didn’t experience the event last time
-I am experiencing it this time
-I HATE the experience

Can it be improved, yes:
-If it was opt in only
-if it was designated to a certain area
-if it was strictly part of war mode

I’m experiencing it for the firs time and finding I absolutety hate hate hate hate hate hate it

For all the same reason I chose a PvE server, and for the same reasons I keep war mode off - I don’t enjoy engaging in PvP and getting griefed while trying to do something that isn’t about PvP.

If it’s supposed to be a PvP event, make it be part of war mode. Doing the dailies, the rares, collecting transmog and gear, all enjoyable. Having a bunch of people whose goal is to simply sabatoge my time, not enjoyable.

It makes me asks deeper questions like “Why does Blizzard think griefing and letting people annoy other players is fun and a fundamental part of WoW?”

If this was anything more permanent, something longer than the week it is, I would legit unsubscribe. That’s how much I hate this experience, and finally, stating how horrible I find something is basically the thing people do on the forums - i.e., provide their feedback.

Its kinda dumb how blizz said only flagged people would be opted into the zombie event yet instead of the non-flagged people not dealing with it, they just get infected which then flags them…

what in blazes was the thought process there?

The only limited item is the bag and the accursed keepsake, and if you didn’t got a drop in these two weeks, then you have a severe case of bad luck, like really bad. I got the bag first week before the zombies arrived, on my main and 3 more alts and two accursed keepsakes too.

If they made these rares act like other rares- short respawn but you can kill once per day for loot- it wouldn’t even matter if you get griefed once or twice, you could just go back and kill him.

But the way it is now- obviously most people care only about the bag, and it’s every 3h20m so you only get limited tries (provided you have a life schedule that works out perfectly around being free every three hours). And, it’s on a very limited timeframe.

It’s the combination that makes this situation bad- even with the ghouls staying as is (though, they shouldn’t flag you regardless, whoever thought that a ghoul attacking you= you declaring war on the other faction is insane), you could have potential fun.

Just consider these two scenarios.

Scenario 1- what we have. You wait three hours, just want a shot at that bag, and some players deliberately are there to try to prevent people their shot at it. You die to a cluster of ghoul explosions that, with the lag, have basically no counterplay, and now have to wait almost 7 hours for a shot that can also be disrupted. It’s obviously a garbage situation.

Scenario 2- you change just one thing, make rares work how they do normally, same situation. Ghouls bomb you and hold the area, you have a reason now to group up and try to clear out the ghouls thus starting a battle over the spawn point until you win, then get your chance at the bag. It starts an actual conflict, it’s not just griefing but actual ghouls v players as it should be (as right now, when the ghouls blow up and disrupt the kill, they leave, there’s no reason to keep fighting as a ghoul, their goal is accomplished). And, the frustration is brief rather than lasting 3, 7, 10, etc… hours depending on how many times you get griefed.

There’s also a deeper question here:

Why does Blizzard consider griefing as a good aspect of gameplay?

You can’t even say it’s part of the faction wars here because it’s outside of horde or alliance.

You can’t say it’s part of choosing to play PvP because it’s forced onto you whether you have war mode on or off.

It’s legit just a group of people whose sole point of being there is finding enjoyment out of making it miserable for other people. Fighting back doesn’t even give any rewards like honour points either.

It speaks to something fundamental like Blizzard enjoys having a group of players create grief for other players.

Seriously, if this was a more permanent part of the game, I would unsubscribe and be gone so fast.

They even KNEW it would be like this: people complaining about it. Instead of trying to find a method where it could be a cool optional PvP aspect, they decided to actually promote and maintain content for people who legit get enjoyment out of ruining things for others.

Like, what does that say about the developers as human beings?

The trick is to be in warmode. I’ve geared up 7 alts in Icecrown in warmode and i’ve seen ZERO zombies. You know what destroys zombies faster than they can twitch? A swarm of bored PVPers flying around.

Then Just leave and stop grand standing…

None of these people want solutions they just feel entitled that they need to adapt. For ONE week.

Sounds like a scourge invasion to me.

No, they want PvP to be something they choose to do rather than forced upon them.

How about as compensation, we remove war mode for one week, would that be ok?

I like this idea. Could make the launch more interesting.

The reality is- nobody really like wpvp/warmode, it’s always been about griefing and there’s a reason why if one side becomes too numerous the other side stops playing while the dominant side only grows more and more.

And we know people don’t like it, because if they did they’d be happy with being able to participate in it. But they never are, they can only be happy when they’re forcing someone else to participate, their happiness with it is directly linked to someone else not having fun.

If wpvp was good, it’d be fine on its own without needing stuff like this to force people who turned it off to pvp.

are you actually so disingenuous, that you’re going to pretend being flagged for 5 minutes is the same as being in constant pvp mode?

wait it out.
catch a taxi.

stop being overly dramatic.

I know! Make PVPers do PVE to be competitive for a̶ ̶w̶e̶e̶k̶ several expansions in a row.

The amount of entitled whining by privileged PVErs refusing to take the solutions to their whining that are offered is mindboggling. I didn’t care about PVErs too much but honestly now I want Blizzard to lock more and more PVP stuff, say, top heal and damage trinkets behind a 1400 rating renown for one raid tier. Just for the wailing and gnashing of teeth and the “i quit (but not really)” tears on the forums.

Just to build character and make privileged PVErs feel a little less entitled.

Can confirm logging out clears it. I’ve used that to slay the undead in silvermoon without worrying of infection myself.

It was, but the lyrics are all pretty much related. except you know the zombies are the bombs. And the only guns are from hunters. but w/e. Zombies

Absolutely nothing.

It’s a game, stop being so dramatic.

You’re only forcibly flagged whilst in Org or SW. Once you leave, you have 5 minutes to kill before the flag fades.

I’m actually really disappointed with this event because I haven’t seen even a single zombie player the whole time and that’s both with WM Off and WM On.

OMG did this really happen. That would suck so bad, but as an outside party it is really entertaining.
