After 20 minutes of serving hopping, i have killed the carnivorous lasher 3 separate times and rank 2 of Zin’Anthid has not dropped. It dropped for all of my friends every time we kill it. Am i just that unlucky or am I missing something as to why rank 2 won’t drop for me? I have done the quest and re got the germinating seed multiple times.

Have you trained rank 1, supposedly Blizzard hotfixed rank 2 patterns to keep them from dropping until you have rank 1.
Have you double checked your bags (and possibly your bank)?
First day I believe the carnivorous lasher was flagged as a rare mob on my map. Perhaps it can only be looted once per day and you need to wait for the reset.

Perhaps bad luck, perhaps what he said above. I got mine on the 2nd kill and it scared me, thought it was supposed to be 100%

I had also trained rank 1 prior to the rank 2 drop
I got 175 on both herbing and mining, zin is still rank1, osemite is still rank 1. I don’t see anything in the bags.
Anyone know how long the fertile soil / lasher timer is? Not knowing is really frustrating. 30 minutes… or 2 hours? That determines if I am going to sit and wait or not.

Killed it once no drop. Fertile soil no longer appears for me, been trying to get it all weekend.
For anybody having problems… I received my rank 2 finally. I have no idea how it happened but i killed the mashed a few times and got no drop. Then suddenly i checked my bags and it was there, i have no explanation for this. But if the soil if not appearing for you (would not appear for me either), go into premade questing groups and join random people’s groups. You can be transferred into another server cluster this way and if you’re lucky, one of those servers will have the fertile soil. That is how i found it. Unfortunately it is kind of trolling the premade groups, but as far as i know, there is no other solution to make the fertile soil appear, hopefully blizzard fixes this
I got mine on kill 4 as well. I already had 175 herbing and had already made the Alchemy trinket when I got it. Luckily rank 3’s have been dropping quickly after rank 2’s.
I had 175 herbing and nothing for days. Finally realized I needed to talk to the trainer to get rank 1.
After I had rank 1, I got the seed drop in around 30 or 40 herb picks. But I never found any fertile soil. Then I saw a group killing the rare spawn, and helped kill it. When I looted the dead mob, I got the Rank 2 recipe in my bags. First kill.
But I was warned (by the “Comments” player feedback section in the recipe) that sometimes it takes several kills.
What trainer did you talk to? I’ve talked to both the one in Zuldazar and in Nazjatar. They don’t have rank 1 to teach.
There is a trainer in Nazjator, for Alliance. He is one of the 20 NPCs in Mezzemere. I have not played Nazjator on the Horde side yet.
Nazjatar trainers are a bit weird, each teaches 2 to 3 different profs, and you don’t know which ones they train until you click on them.
