On the quest “Zeth’Gor Must Burn!” in the BC timewalking campaign. Using the quest item “Smoke Beacon” either from your bags or on the quest helper sidebar causes your game to crash. The report ID my client reported is below.

Yup same here. I opened a ticket on this as well.
I’m getting the same crash, as well.

hilarious. they didn’t read the ticket at all and just copy and pasted trouble shooting tips for graphic drivers. then suggested i hire a local tech to continue diagnosing my pc.
This has NOTHING to do with a local hardware issue.

Disable Background Applications: Close unnecessary background applications, as they might interfere with Battle.net App. Check for any resource-intensive programs running in the background and close them before launching the game.
-
Run as Administrator: Right-click the Battle.net App shortcut or executable and select "Run as Administrator." This ensures that the game has the necessary permissions to run smoothly.
-
Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower in-game graphics settings to reduce the strain on your system. Experiment with different settings to find a balance between performance and visual quality.
-
Check for Overheating: Monitor your system's temperature while playing. Overheating can cause crashes. Ensure that your CPU and GPU temperatures are within acceptable ranges. Clean any dust from your computer components and ensure proper ventilation.
-
Reinstall the game/app: Uninstall the game, restart your computer, and then reinstall the game. Corrupted installation files can lead to various issues, and a fresh installation might resolve the problem.

If all else fails, consider contacting a local tech expert who can perform a more in-depth analysis of your system to identify and resolve any hardware or software issues.

I made a ticket for this yesterday. What a weird crash, too. This one barrel is meant to help blow up a wooden tower, not the game.

Bugged for me too, glad it wasn’t just my install going wrong. There’s another, the quest from the Dwarf next to the Zeth’Gor quest giver which crashes as well if you click the quest item.
I wondered if it was the entire outlands area or just during timewalking but outside of timewalking it still does it and other quest items work perfectly fine (like one of the goblin ones “outland sucks” or something on the otherside of hellfire peninsula which also had a quest items iirc but worked fine).
aaaaaaaaaaaaand another one without reading the ticket. The support “staff” is just a bunch of bots. I linked this forum on the second ticket for reference and i explained exactly what was going on.
Bliz dont read tickets.

Yep, just had it happen to me, too, twice in a row.
Good news! I just tested the quest, and it seems to have been fixed…No CTDs at all!
