My setup is different to yours. When I open the map it is full screen so it doesnt show the quests down the side. My quests are on the far right like your screen. So I don’t see that timer like yours. So it’s not “literally” in plain view. And when you open the quest log it also doesn’t show that timer.
I don’t even care about that timer. I’m just telling you how it is when I play. If you want me to post screenshots I can.
Can I be honest with you? I have done the quest and picked it up but have yet to see the timer. I also haven’t been looking for it. My eye is trained to ignore the UI and I just do not read a lot. Except when I do.
I imagine a lot of people do the same.
yup I worked on the quest for about 4 hours so far and never once noticed it

When haven’t they time gated story especially over the last 3 expansions.
You get so much each week then the next week a bit more of the story gets released .
just like emissaries and callings - all of a sudden people are confused.
Hot take: Patterns being bi-weekly instead of Shaping Fate’s weekly implementation is BS FOMO of the highest caliber to “double” content at the expense of twisting player’s arm towards doing the same content twice a week instead of once.
God forbid we get time to play Elden Ring instead!
Personally, when I pull up the map I am focused on the map part not the log.
I did not see the timer because I would be looking at the pin and where I am in relation to it to see if it would be worth my time to chase that rare.
I think it would have been more helpful to put the timer next to the quest at the right of the screen or in the quest box like when they have a recommended number of players for the quest.
Those were a bit different because defending an area just meant go and do world quests. Which every emissary was. This one wants people to fight rares and find treasures. I bet if it were just to kill enemies in Zereth Mortis, it’d be looked upon differently.
There’s another thread about this where a blue posted that they are changing it to a weekly with next maintenance.
I didn’t know about it either and was lucky I did do it right away. Feel bad for others who didn’t know.
