I would love to see zen spheres changed to make it so the buff/debuff is applied by core rotational abilities. Maybe look to adjust the % figures based on those globals being regained.
Currently it is just a chore of a talent that is often mandatory in arena.
I like how it’s applied atm, I use it to keep rogues in stealth a lot if taunt is on cooldown. It’s not like monk has a ton of buttons and it gives me something to think about beyond “yo channel soothing for statue”
Granted, I ran it before they shortened the GCD on it
Also does fantastic chip damage if you use it on cd in an arena (10-15% of my damage)
Chip dam and stealth prevention don’t really outweigh the negative of having to maintain both the buff and debuff. MW can do those things without zen spheres, anyway.
It’s a really mundane ability. If we get a buff + debuff ability, I’d love it to be on a longer cd and have more impact. A 6-second cd % buff is both dissatisfying to use and to not use.
I get that it is what most ppl would invite a mw for currently. Tough to think of losing that. But overall I think it would be a big improvement to the spec to not have to weave spheres into an already diverse kit.
I just think it’s an ability that you appreciate more the more you use it.
It’s got a ton of uses:
kills totems,
kills psyfiends
Pops spell reflect
keeps stealth
good chip damage
I think if you’re just considering it as a debuff/buff it’s a little underwhelming and annoying to use, but if you include everything it’s a lot more interesting
Imo the least important thing about zen spheres is the healing buff and it’s honestly rare I’ll even use the global on it for that
These are all trivial things mw doesn’t need zen spheres for. We need spheres for 10% dam on the kill target. It’s really not a fit in terms of play style or monk theme. Feels like a random thing, but it becomes every 10 sec or so in the roto when you play it, and a lot of the time it’s not a choice.
Tying it into existing abilities like I said in op just seems easy, and consistent with a lot of other changes I see specs getting.
I disagree entirely. Being able to snipe a psyfiend for someone from ranged is huge, or crack a static field is way more valuable than ~10% damage for a few seconds

I throw it out on cd on kill target generally, does 10-15% of my damage.
I guess I just enjoy the synergy that comes from it and the small utility things it provides. I’d never not play it and it’s probably my favorite monk ability in the game rn
The problem with zen spheres is that it only last 30 seconds, it only applies to 1 target at a time and you have to apply it twice constantly since it runs out pretty quickly.
The problem is stacking modifiers on mw takes a lot of globals and the number of times you need to press zen sphere doesn’t make it feel good even though it feels like a mandatory talent.
The 6 second cd makes it a bit more clunky since you can’t refresh whenever you want as well.

True enough but the 10% damage on kill target through an entire match is where the talent really shines. Partners who aren’t healing by a pillar can kill totems, so can kicks or cjl when conditions are right.
It would be a lot better having despair put on rsk/cjl and hope put on vivify when running the talent. Mistweaver feels super tight on gcds when playing it and really smooth otherwise.
It hits and heals for 300k or so.
Yes exactly this. Many buttons/buffs but so few gcds.
