Zen Focus Tea is changed on the PTR to “Thunder Focus Tea provides immunity to Silence and Interrupt effects for 5 seconds.”
You want to use Zen Focus Tea for casting Soothing Mist and Shielun’s Gift uninterrupted. You want to use Thunder Focus Tea for instant cast Enveloping Mists and boosted Expel Harms. These 2 abilities do not go together and merging them will be detrimental to MW playstyle in pvp. This will be a difficult adjustment for monks simply to purge one button.
I don’t see a good way to use Zen Focus Tea anymore. If you use it for Soothing Mist and then cast Enveloping Mists or Vivify you will waste the Thunder Focus Tea charges. If you use Thunder Focus Tea like normal to casts instant Enveloping Mists and Expel Harm you are wasting globals of your ‘aura mastery’ casting instant casts. Maybe the best thing you can do is cast Shielun’s Gift as it won’t consume Thunder Focus Tea charges.

Thanks for bringing this up.
This is actually a really poorly designed change for the reasons you said and doesn’t need to happen.

Honestly, I’m just trying to understand the rationale behind the change.
One thought was that, maybe, they were targeting button bloat - even though MW doesn’t really have that problem.
The other (more likely) thought was that they wanted to ensure that a Jade Empowered CJL channel wasn’t going to just going get insta-kicked. Of course, if this is what they wanted, they could have just applied a modifier that made it unkickable and left ZFT the way it was.
I don’t know what they’re doing.
It’s clearly a nerf, whatever thier intention was. These are not 2 abilities you ever want to use in combination. They interfere with what you would want to use them for.
This along with the repeated peaceweaver nerfs has MWs best pvp talents being targeted.
100% agree with everything mentioned so far.
To be clear, this is more focused on the casted Mistweaver playstyle, not fistweaving.
All I do is PvP. We use Thunder Focus Tea so we don’t have to cast and when we need to cast, we have to use 2 GCDs to get any decent healing out (Soothing Mist → Enveloping Mist). That’s when we get kicked.
Sure, we can fake/duke to farm precog; but that doesn’t always work… especially if you have high ping (I’m Australian and 90% of my games whether that be blitz, RBG or Arena are on US realm with 220ms+ ping. Try duking/faking against players with <30ms lol).
Casted Mistweavers already in a bad enough position in Arena (at least at the current point of TWW), and I’m afraid this will be the final nail in the coffin for those who remain dedicated to the class.

Wow what a super stupid change they’re proposing -_-

Well the change is in and it is indeed terrible having these combined.

The thing that annoys me is the permanent blue aura visual glitch so I just picked another talent until they fix that

not only undocumented, but also terrible change.
the whole point of TFT is being able to use enveloping mist without having to cast, and the whole point of zen focus tea is being able to cast without getting interrupted.
using both at once is not something you ever want or need to do.
this actually makes the talent terrible now.
this is a downgrade for sure but I’m finding it to be alright. I usually just don’t want to get kicked on my CJL so it works out. We get 2 aura masteries with MoH now which is kinda ok
Now the annoying bug is if CJL cleaves some random pet/summon with low HP and dies, this removes the damage boost for the remainder of the channel, this bug was never fixed on PTR obviously
Right now the best thing you can do is CJL with zen focus tea. CJL cleave is getting nerfed tomorrow but either way this change (nerf) to zen focus remains terrible.
