Idk how that would be the case, he scales with delve tier and group size, awards loot higher than the delve itself gives as a guarantee, and doesn’t even need to be defeated.
The only thing he actually does is be a jerk, and then you go invade his home and whoop his butt and feel good about it.
I killed Zekvir ?? solo in 2 pulls last night after I realized my mage didn’t have Energized Barriers talented to remove the dot.
Understandable, I’m behind on my Priest(I would’ve been rocking a 636 staff rn) but the Mage life has been calling me.
Facts, hits different when he invades you after being victorious.
You have to include the other 20 pulls before looking at a guide. I did.
On any class with tanking ability, even a warlock, I have driven him off. He may scale up in a group, but if I were in a group with a tank who did more damage than a void walker I imageine that would make up for it. It is a design fault. Made to make people conform to norms of behavior in game play.

Oh I had 50 pulls on my mage without Energized Barrier not talented. Then I added the talent, died with him at 27% on the next pull, killed him on the pull after. What was killing me was the dot damage.
I had at least 50 as discipline priest alone before switching to SPriest. So I absolutely get you.
He may scale up in a group

Spittle DoT is very nasty if you’re doing it 5-man. I did Fungal Folly when he invaded, tank and healer died, he 1 AA took me down past 50% health on my Mage.
Thank goodness leader was rocking Healer Brann.
Idk I just facetanked the hits, kited a bit and drank the potions brann threw out. He in no way incentivises grouping or exists to “punish” solo players. You can’t even get rewards from killing him in his own lair without doing it solo.

I bet, I generally main Fire but it just hasn’t been in a good spot this expansion during heroic prog on Queen I swapped from Fire to Frost and did 200k more dps.

Btw there’s someone doing a challenge of trying to beat zekvir “??” around 600~ ilvl on every spec except disc and holy. He’s done all the tanks except bear, and all the healers except evokers (Easy enough) and priest.
The buffs from Nov. 26 didn’t help?

I lol’d a bit at “except disc and holy”
Least people are enjoying the fight now they’re challenging themselves with less gear power.
Two things that helped me:

Use the Amorphous relic and reset until you get the 20% speed boost (fight resets when running out of the room). Makes it easy to bait and dodge his cones if you constantly move around him.

Set BigWigs/DBM to countdown the heal interrupt.

This would be pointing out an extreme exception the likes of which would be comparable, imo, to equating no heal push runs to the norm.
I know this thing is happening, I know you can do better on my very class than I can. This does not diminish my meager accomplishments to me and does not indicate a systemic problem either.

I rolled for the 12% increased damage boost because my class is mobile. (Also mages can Invis to reset)
