Zekvir Delve Tuning is Now Live - September 26

Wait are you saying the ? Low level boss is too hard, that I have to dispute.

I have cleared it on all six tanks, dev evoker be holy priest and gear ranging from 575-595

Since youre on pally if it’s pally that toon for me is like 580 and the boss presents almost zero threat I’m not sure how you’re struggling to survive. Even if you miss a fear kick you can bubble it

i believe that’s an author from wow head lmao

In my many pulls of zekvir I had one where he crit twice in a row. Its rare but it can happen, also this is on n ele shaman so probably running as tank isn’t a thing unless blizzard has something to tell us in the next patch about shaman tanking.

After these changes i was able to dodge the fear consistently and finally kill Zekvir on ? Difficulty (596 or 598 ilvl fury warrior)!

It still felt challenging but doable, which makes sense for ? Difficulty.

I gotta say though, as a duo (with an admittedly undergeared duo) it felt impossible. The spittle cast would be 1 after another immediately after we interrupt it which got overwhelming fast.

Similar changes to:

For duos would be nice. Then again maybe once we are both ilvl 600 it will be doable as is. (Btw its a paladin warrior combo, typically warrior tank and pally dps, but we tried lots of combos.)

I did it again today on ??, and its much easier than it was earlier this week, having done a fair bit of zekvir fighting this expansion I figure I might as well post some thoughts on it.

Overall I’m glad the fight was made and I had a blast with it. I hope season 2 learns a lot from season 1 not just in the case of the superboss like zekvir but also just in terms of delves in general. I think one aspect of delves that isn’t well pronounced is that it can be more in line with the brawler’s guild rather then being world quest + and I think what is happening with post nerf zekvir ? is something blizzard can leverage on intentionally if they don’t do their usual thing of overcorrecting and inflexibly removing unintended interactions.

I’d like to see more then one superboss a season and I’d really like to have a few “boss delves” where you just walk in and it is a boss or three wtih relevant mechanics. I visualize it as a sort of normal bosses=gold proving grounds level of difficulty while superbosses go from early mage tower to 5 mask alleria/thrall. But I digress.

As for Zekvir I think the biggest flaws are difficulty based on melee hit, brann in general, and mechanics not being one size fits all for classes namely tanks and healers but also plebs who can’t remove snares too.

I think the big success for zekvir is the avoidable one shots, it feels right since its difficult content that you can just do on your own time and for the most part I’d say it was fair, sometimes the slam didn’t feel fair due to latency or one tapping my ankle, but I think avoidable one shots being a staple of delve superbosses makes sense. Having the fight be a marathon was also a solid choice since it would be less epic if you just had classes clearing the mode in two minutes and cutting through zekvir like butter, not to say that I think future bosses should be hp sponges, god no, but I think zekvir being threatening and a long fight was a good combo.

Generally I am a bit lenient with delves since blizzard advertised them as a new pillar of the game alongside m+ and raid. I’ve seen this statement memed on but I take it to mean that delves right now are akin to legion m+ in emerald nightmare and that was a very different time. Compared to the wild west of 3 chesting maw of souls for artifact power and affixes that were never seen again I’d say delves are suprisingly solid for a first time feature considering that its in the esteemed company of things like torghast, island expeditions, covenant sanctums and such. But also for that reason I hope blizzard is taking notes, delves are obviously not perfect and now is the time to figure out how to make them shine as an actual pillar.

I also hope our next companion is a bit simpler, having brann ai going around with what I assume is island expedition ai seems to make a mess of designing consistent encounters, for futrue superbosses it might be best to have our companion hard coded to do certain things at certain times, and hopefully not have those things be stand in melee range as a marksman hunter(?) and get feared on repeat. In that regard though I guess brann is about as good as a real hunter so maybe next time make the companion a more toxic tryhard class like a warrior that pulls threat and leaves group on repeat instead.

It was the condescending tone of replies. What do you mean you peasants are struggling this is basic wow here as you look down from a golden throne.

I haven’t been in there since they pushed the change, but i was not able to do it solo or in a group of 2/3/5.

I’ll try again tonight

I’ve spoken repeatedly about the bad design of the fight and how it should be balanced separately for tanks / healers. I’m moreso disappointed blizzard applied all of these changes to everyone and didn’t do anything about the spell queueing / predictability of mechanics for melee or the inability to do the fight without access to a slow removal on “??” difficulty.

I was also speaking almost completely about the “??” difficulty.

Some specs just have it significantly easier than others, and these changes didn’t do anything to fix that at all.

I appreciate your response.

Maybe I’ll give ?? a shot after being able to run heroic raids.

I’d like to think I’m an above average player. Definitely not among the elite. And i like to complete as much content as i can, even if just for the lore/ story.

I tried this boss at 580ish and was ok not being able to do it. But going back in at 604/606 and still getting spanked and sent home felt like it needed a tweak.

(Never play ret, not going to run solo delves as holy).

What specifically was giving you issues on “?” difficulty pre nerf? I hadn’t really been hearing much about tanks and zekvir but I’m sure when I was looking around to see what had done it on “??” post nerf I saw a 590 ish kill of the regular one as prot. Lemme dig it out…

The only “trick” seemed to be using the zekvir appearance curio, granting increased damage dealt at the cost of maximum health, and ofc using freedom to clear spittle so you could hold kick for if an add did spawn.

Honestly watching the video that curio seems really REALLY good for tanks. 21 stacks that’s a 42% damage increase…

yep I think this is the only way I was getting those eggs smashed in time as guardian. The first egg spawn was doable with cooldowns but subsequent without a big damage boost were starting to pile up and around the last 1/3 of his health i had 2 up at a time sometimes. Since druid has such a big health pull to start it really wasn’t a big deal to chunk that by as much as 40%

Being able to equip a shield wasn’t a hint already?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Now for certain classes the most dangeorus thing is simply his massive autoattacks. 1 melee crit and you’re probably dead regardless of how well you’re doing

I mean to be fair when I was leveling I saw a shaman tank in that story dungeon… it was me because the npc one couldn’t hold agro. But I don’t think either shaman tank in that dungeon really felt like one as far as tankiness.

Sorry Blizz…this encounter is STILL overtuned on “??” difficulty.

As other tanks and healers have already told you–if we’re not allowed to do these in our roles…can you please just come out and say that?

I’m sick of banging my head against the wall on this one. I’m doing the encounter “correctly” but cannot meet the DPS benchmarks no matter what talents I choose for myself and what abliites I pick for Brann…

If you would JUST space out those eggs a bit better OR cut their HP down to HALF…this would be much better for everyone.

If it needs more tuning for specific roles then that’s understandable, but making it even easier for dps (And not fixing the main problem with the fight which is frontal spawns during eggs / being unable to properly bait mechanics) has already kinda ruined what could have been a decent fight.

EDIT: There seems to be a video of a guy doing it on prot war with a bunch of 550 items including weapons, maybe there’s something you can pull from that?

The fight is just terribly RNG even with the best build.

Not sure about that curio. Pretty sure i dont have it. Or maybe i do and just didnt realize it.

For me its just the outright amount of damage he deals. And having to use my self heal instead of a righteous shield kills my dps even more.

Ill be giving it another shot in a bout 20 mins. Lets see how it goes.

That’s some pretty nutty damage to be pumping on eggs at 550 gear. But then again I don’t know how bursty their damage is as tank.

Pretty easy now. Solo’d as a ret at about 608-609. Heal even went off due to me being dumb so there’s that.

Less than an hour of pulls, saving CDs for the add and it’s just a game of whittling away. The hardest part is first 50% b/c there’s more white damage going out and it’s a big chunk of health.

Ok. So mission complete on ? Difficulty. Still not really an “easy” fight I’d say. Eggs were killable most of the time. Adds went down easy enough but cost me my interrupts if i disnt get the egg in time. Lot of dancing and his HP pool (IMO) is too big for a tank spec.
