I noticed about Wailing Arrows that it should interrupt/silence Zekvir but upon looking at my replays, the Silencing doesn’t work at all. Might as well get rid of its talent point and put it somewhere else.
Also, his talent don’t focus much on Aimed Shots but on Rapid Fire/Explosive Shot which is very helpful for Phase 2. With it, I also realized that Rapid Fire Barrage can turn Barrage into Rapid Fire. Rapid Fire > Aimed Shots allowing us MM to move and to dodge stuffs while DPS’in.
Good luck to me. Hope I would have enough play time to put Zekvir down before a new patch starts next week. I don’t mind if I fail with lack of play time. But at least I had fun, trying. I don’t die much anyway. Any critical error I do like failing to interrupt the heals and failing to kill cocoon in time, I just feign death and reset. ROFL.
Did it as MM. Sentinel, 610 ilvl when I zero’d him. For any Hunters still grinding, this is what worked for me:
First off, I’d spec Dark Ranger, because Sent felt worthless this fight. I didn’t know any better. The Defensives and Black Arrow> dumb bird imo.
Key with AShot is you gotta wait till he does whatever nonsense he’s got queued. No need to rush, gotta pick your spots. Do Aimed Shot immediately after each attack, instead of before.
Swirlies come in 3s. As soon as you dodge the third one- Aimed Shot. Soon as you dodge Smash- Aimed Shot. Soon as you dodge the AoE- Aimed Shot.
You’re all but guaranteed the time to get one off after he does each one of his abilities.
Spittle is the slow, just a reminder. It’s both a DoT and a slow.
EDIT: the only addon you need (not WeakAura) is DBM.
You only need the spell timers and cast status bars, that’s it. It’ll tell you when Zekvir is gonna pull out each attack, which is handy for knowing when to preserve your Aimed Shot charges for the eggs.
For Zekvir himself, use mostly Steady Shot (have the talents for it! It grants you haste and shortens the Aimed Shot cooldown with each cast) and Arcane Shot. You can use Rapid Fire and Explosive Shot as you wish, but when the egg is incoming, you’re better off saving these for the egg. Be sure to choose the Rapid Fire talent that also speeds up your casting. It’ll help you get these Aimed Shots off faster on the eggs.
I usually cleanse it immediately too but I’ve had a few attempts with high latency spikes and lag, so I wasn’t able to immediately respond during these attempts. That’s how I learned that it’s also a slow.
EDIT: also, pathfinder? Seriously? It only toggles when you’re out of combat. It’s useless to that fight. But posthaste, yes, it helps.
That makes sense lol.
If I made a mistake like that and let it tick, I’d just reset and go again.
It ticks so hard, as a hunter if you don’t almost immediately dispell it, you fall over.
The attempt I finally downed him, I actually survived an infinite horror and I ate a couple of ticks. I was honestly expecting to wipe when that latency spike hit me, but then to my great surprise… I got him!
Go figure, the first time I successfully got him to 15% HP was the attempt I actually defeated him.
I’ve found that by using my defenses (not the Turtle, but the other two), it helped me soak up the ticks better. That’s how I survived that fear — I hit Natural something (I’m having a brain fart ATM) right before he finished casting it.
I tried Rapid Fire focus spec… it takes forever to get to phase 2. I went back to Aimed Shot focus spec, it’s way faster to reach phase 2.
I have some incident where Brann has low hp and there’s an instance where he died. I died shortly. How long does he revive? How do you survive without his heals/potions/dispels? What did I do wrong to make him die? I was able to put down Zekvir to 30% to 40% but Brann’s hp was too low. Is there a trick to prevent him from having a very low hp?
BTW, I am enjoying the fight. It’s really fun. Hope, I would have more hours of attempts. Hope I have enough time to put him down. I made a tremendous progress since I started doing him few days ago.
Rezzes every 30, I believe. And no, nothing you can do different, 'sides be prepared: Brann is going to die in Phase 2. Multiple times. It’s completely unavoidable. Zitaska hit it on the head: defensives. If you want to try and revive him, be my guest- I wouldn’t bother tho.
Best to keep shooting. Maybe try and put some distance between you and Zek during those moments, so that the time he spends traveling to you is more time running Brann’s death timer out. Your ilvl is much much higher than mine was. I did it as Sent, but maybe try it as Dark Ranger.
Black Arrow and the double defensives are better, imho.
I tried a few times and gave up. My work life is to stressful to want to be stressed in the game as well. Besides I don’t use that blimp mount anyways.
My tries were also on BM, hate him one shotting pets, though understandable. BM is the only spec in the game were 1 mechanic can make BM the best for this fight or the worse. Right now its set to worse as 60% of our damage is from our pet and the boss 1 shots it. The whole spec is designed around the Pet and having it tank for us.
However if they changed it so the boss doesn’t 1 shot the pet and the pet could tank it then it would become mind numbing easy for BM.
