I realize part of the reason I avoid going down there is that it’s a bit of a pain to come back up. Dragonriding uphill through a confined space just doesn’t work. Having to take a flight path or plan my trip around hearthstone cooldown interrupts the flow of my gaming. Would be nice to have one of the waygates down there. Would be even nicer to have thematic fast travel (e.g. a mine cart I can ride up the tunnel to the surface, a niffen I can talk to to dig to surface or a “drill” I can use to teleport to surface).
IMO Niffen Diggin’ Mitts does the trick for me. I might jump down do my quests and use the mitts to get back to Loamm to fly elsewhere.
As an engineer, I just teleport to the caverns via wyrmhole, use diggin’ mitts if I need to get to Loam quicker after arriving, and whenever I want to leave I just hearth to Valdrakken or use another form of teleportation to go somewhere else.
It would be nice if I was an engineer or a mage, but unfortunately I’m not. I enjoy dragonriding across zones, so the mitts are not super useful for me unless I’m in a rush or in a pinch. Even so, they don’t actually help me get to the surface. I’d still have to take the flight path, which like I mentioned in original post interrupts my flow.
Wait, there’s a new toy that lets us pick the location manually like the other ones? The only one i have so far is kinda randomized and puts me in odd places, do i have to spec into one particular tree to get it or something?
They would be better if all mobs had 50% less health and didn’t hit so hard and weren’t all bunched up.
The capstone for the Mechanical Mind tree lets you pick the zone you teleport to with the Dragonflight wyrmhole generator. All the above-ground zones have three nodes you click to activate the choosing of that zone and in Zaralek Caverns you just have to find a dead NPC and click one of the treasure items on the ground to activate the caverns teleport option.
Cheers, i’ll start putting some points into that.
Er… Well, it’s under the novelty’s tree of the Mechanical Mind branch, not the mechanical mind branch itself… Though the mechanical mind node is a flat +1 skill to all crafts per level so is worth taking anyways.
I just checked and I’m 5 points off unlocking it anyway, i didn’t think there was anything else i needed so i was just throwing random points here and there to stop that incessant flashing that tells you to spend your points lol
Yyyyyep. I thought it was mostly useless because I never relied on inspiration for Engineering but after getting it all unlocked, made the toy worth putting on my bars.
I just never dragonride out. I always hearth or take a flight path.
IIRC, the eastern exit is mostly downhill, just has a really steep climb once you get out.
Yup it’s deceptive, you feel like you’re going down both entering and leaving.
I haven’t manually flow out since the first couple of days after it was open. Once I discovered the flight paths externally were available, I just take public transport out.
Wouldn’t mind a waygate but there isn’t always a handy one nearby when I need to get down there. Just as easy to travel the way that doesnt require me to use dragonriding.
I use Maruuk toy for teleporting to surface. You can buy it at Maruuk quartermaster for 15 dragon supplies, has 5 charges.
Good tip! That legit solves my problem. Now I just need to stock up on those.
I just wish there was something built in to the zone that didn’t require you to be a certain class, profession, rep, or plan to solve the problem of travel every time. If I have the choice of any zone, Zaralek is at the bottom of the list for this reason.
My only issue is that the tunnel is not well-lit and I find it hard to see where the turns are. I find I’m now often navigating by muscle memory as much as I am by sighting my path.
Why not just take the flight path out?
It’s unfortunate that the Waygate system was designed in a way that limits its usefulness. There is no gate in the capital, and they’re pretty far out of the way. It’s always much simpler to use a flight path, and at this stage, I don’t understand why the waygates exist in the first place.
