In Season One of Dragonflight, I got one of my characters M+ endgame geared; that’s to say, 4/5 of the tier set, BiS M+ trinkets, and upgraded embellished pieces.
The time it took to kill outdoor mobs in Season One was amazing. I felt powerful, and I felt like my work was rewarded with the short time it took to kill most mobs.
Then Season Two brought along Zaralek Cavern. As soon as I was left to my own devices, I felt a sharp drop in power. The time and effort it took to become geared in Season One was a moot point because suddenly I was facing mobs that dealt significantly more damage and had dramatically more health.
That felt terrible. Then, I recalled that this kind of mob power creep was attempted back in Legion. Do you remember what happened? The community was outraged, and Blizzard had to backpedal.
Did you all forget? Did you all think our opinion of this did a complete 180 just because seven years passed? It’s okay if open world content is easy – people aren’t doing world quests expecting to be sitting on the edge of their seats popping defensives for dear life. Let go of the concept that the open world HAS to scale dramatically to match our armor.
