Zandalar appreciation

I have read about all of the complaints people have about BfA, so I was somewhat skeptical when I finally started the expac content. However, as soon as I arrived in Zuldazar, Zandalar…I fell in love! Trolls have always been my favorite WoW race, and when I heard Zandalar was a region in BfA I knew I wanted to get there. So far, I have not been disappointed. I am absolutely loving the music (I could just park myself in Zuldazar only for that reason), the jungle, the dinosaurs, the design of the architecture and characters. I’m even enjoying the quests so far. This toon, Azzira, honestly is feeling “at home” in this place. The armor I’ve made/received so far looks so good on her, and her two pets (Oondasta and Horridon) look completely appropriate in the environment.

Anyone else here love Zandalar (or, more specifically, Zuldazar? I haven’t been to the other two maps yet)? Otherwise, what is your favorite map in WoW to be in, explore, and quest in?

I enjoy a lot of the new maps, and the Zandalari is a fun race to earn and yes I loved questing in the area. The art development team did an amazing job on this xpac, but it’s about the only thing done well. Complaints are more about after the quest chains are done, because in comparison to a lot of other DLCs the content is boring and unrewarding.

I love Zandalar too. Zandalari has become one of my favorite races. I think Blizzard did a good job with the zones.

The horde leveling experience is aces this expansion.

Have fun, OP! It’s great to have a little positivity around here.

Zandalari are within a breath of overtaking Nightborne as the 2nd most popular Allied Race.

Number of characters at 120 on US Realms:
Zandalari - 79,020
Nightborne - 79,314
Void Elf - 133,901

I like Zuldazar, but the music is too “Pirates of the Caribean” for my taste
kinda would fit better in Borallus

I enjoyed Zandalar. But I like Boralus even more. It just looks lived in, unlike most other cities. Vagrants in the street, potholes, pick pockets, guards roaming around. Boralus actually feels like a living breathing city to me.

I love Zuldazar!

It also kinda reminded me of Dromund Kaas from SWTOR with the design and all the political infighting.

the flutes!

If anything, the PotC theme song is just a re-use of the Gladiator theme song.

One bit of music in Dazar’alar sounds just like the beginning of the Dragon Roost Island theme from Wind Waker (which I also love, so can’t complain about that).

I love Zandalar!!!

Before the BFA release, I remember some of music for BFA hitting youtube. One of the songs, “City of Gold”, was a personal favorite. I could listen to it over and over. When BFA started and I set food into Zuldazar for the first time, hearing City of Gold play… f, I was in love.

I love zuldazar so much. The dense surrounding jungle…all the cool little spots in the city…though as a zandalari I may be biased :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m disappointed that ztrolls haven’t learned how to wear shoes yet, but overall they are very cool.

Jani probably stole all their shoes. They’ve just given up at this point.

You just have to find the right shoe. Like I did

I’ve been fascinated with the Zandalari since vanilla. The one aspect of BFA that has not disappointed is the realization of the ancient civilization of priests and theologians that is the Zandalari Empire.

The way that the Zandalari’s towering ziggurats and temples blend into the land that surrounds them is magnificent, and the sense of how ancient and proud they are of their culture is profound.

While I too greatly appreciate Zul’dazar and it’s surrounding jungles and wild packs of dinosaurs, I also have a deep appreciation for Vol’dun And Nazmir. It’s amazing how you can see the towering edifices of the Zandalari being swallowed by the dunes in one zone while in the very next they are slowly sinking into the swamps. It makes me wonder what those ruins must have looked like in their heyday, when the Empire was vast and strong, and Vol’dun was a lush jungle vibrant with life and Nazmir had yet to succumb to the rot of G’huun and the ravages of the Cataclysm.

The Zandalari themselves are fantastic and diverse Both in their worship of the loa as well as in their way of life. Those strong enough and of high enough cast to live in Zul’dazar are of course impressive, but those trolls who live simpler lives in the jungles and swamps are fascinating too in their daily struggles and sacrifices. Having Vol’dun populated by criminals and exiles is also very interesting and adds and element of danger and more than a little bit of pathos to the otherwise proud race.

It’s a shame that it seems the expansion has pivoted away from the Zandalari and that their story seems to be ‘done’ for the moment with Queen Talanji’s coronation. I hope to see more about the first race to walk Azeroth and their mysterious and crafty Loa in the story soon.

I love the Zandalari trolls and there city isn’t bad either. I have 5 max level Zandalari and love their animations, the way they wear their armor and, most importantly, their height which is as tall as a Tauren.

Agree… Zuldazar is awesome and beautiful and majestic!

then again, I feel that way about most zones and art in this game.

Vol’dun is my favorite zone in BFA. I love desert zones. Next would probably be Drustvar. I’ve never been a huge fan of jungles.
