On top of playing WoW, I do play a bit of Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel. Unlike Duel Links you play against other people mainly and it follows I think the standard Yu-Gi-Oh duel with some exceptions. I haven’t really played the TCG since high school, and the last Yu-Gi-Oh game I think I played was Duel Links for a short while but also Duel Academy on the GBA (or was it Nintendo DS? I don’t remember.)
Anyway, the game has admittedly convoluted and there are times with how chaining works I want to throw my laptop at the wall. A standard duel can take anywhere from 10 minutes to about 30 depending on how much someone will chain on your turn. You can go from 2 turns to 30 depending on your deck, and the other persons deck.
Like last duel ended in two turns. My turn and my opponeant wiped me out. Their card didn’t let me activate magic cylinder which is fine. Duel previously ended in 34 turns because my hand bricked. I play a Blue Eyes deck normally, and I drew all my Blue Eyes cards, but none of the fodder to allow me to summon them or cards to special summon them. Ended because my opponent either closed out or their internet died. They were also doing badly as well. The had a Winged Dragon of Ra they got from a card effect and couldn’t use it.
So what about ya’ll? Do you play Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel? I so, what’s your favorite deck? What do you like about the game and what do you think they should do differently?
I do as its a good throw back to the current tcg as master duel sets are about 2 years behind the tcg. Tears/ishizu was fun to go back and play again and now I get to play kashtira/runic again and thats also fun. The grind to master rank is a bit much but at least the season reset just takes you back to diamond rank so you don’t need to start from bronze again. Plus the prize tournaments are worthwhile doing after winning a few myself its nice to be rewarding a monetary value for being good at the game. In saying that though I do see the downside if you are coming back from the days of old using cards like magical cylinder, blue eyes, egyption gods ect they are just old, outdated and have no value as a card so when competing agains modern decks you are in for a bad time. So maybe having an older format be it goat or toss format would be a good thing for the old school casual players to have fun with.
The cards that I’m playing aren’t the ones in Kaiba’s deck lol. I’ve got Mausoleum in White, and Sage with Blue eyes, etc. And I have done decently depending on what cards I draw in the first round. Sometimes I can pull off Magic Cylinder well and even Magic Cylinders. The first match I played today my opponent had increased their card to 11k with their special effect tried to attack me. I played Magic Cylinder and it deflected that amount back, making it a win for me.
Now I’m also trying to build more modern decks like Tearlaments, Blackwing, Runic, Kashtira slowly but surely. It’s just taken me to now to decide that I shouldn’t pull 10 packs of Master Packs, and instead just do it in increments of one. And then pull whatever Secret Pack comes from it. And then just alternate Master with a Secret Pack.
I recommend the crafting system. You will have so many cards that you will never use just dust them and make what you want.
I do that too if i have more than three copies.
