This is wrong. Blizzard games are great because of the communities that grow around its titles and the firing and layoffs of several CM’s across Blizzard’s games is another terrible step towards diminishing the community oriented culture of Blizzard games.
The most profitable year in Activision Blizzard’s history yet the shareholder’s satisfaction takes precedent over every facet of how the company is managed. Quality, community, art, and story be damned if it means a better financial forecast for passionless and uncaring shareholders.
The CM’s are the intercessors between the community and the development team and their removal continues to push Blizzard away from being a company that interacts with its community towards one that uses its community as means to an end for their financiers who care not for craftsmanship of your hands but by how much you fill their pockets.
My sub ends in 20 days and I was considering resubbing once Classic/Zandalari roll around but if the futures looking like this well…leaves me a bit worried.
Fair enough. I’ve had disagreements with him about LFR before, but this? Actively saying that showing discontent with a product puts you on the hook for 700+ layoffs during the company’s best financial year on record, is absolutely disgusting.
I guess we should just never offer criticism at all, then.
I know I can be a snarky d bag on these forums, but in all honesty, you were the best CM I’ve ever encountered on any game. Bar none. The effort you put into your job was self evident even in the Clorox bleached manner you had to post.
I legit feel sorry for you and wish you luck. There is no substitute for effort, surely you will get picked up by someone else soon, but it certainly hurts too see you go.
My thanks and best wishes to all now moving on to new chapters in their professional lives. May you quickly find new lands, green and plentiful, to settle down once more.
