Wrote this as a response to The God of Death thread, but I feel like it might be too long as a response, and kinda goes off track near the end. Still wanted to know what people think about my own thoughts though.
Might not be the one to have messed with Vol’jin, but I think at the real big bad in the end is gonna turn out to be Y’shaarj. First of the Old Gods to die and probably be sent to the Shadowlands, and his power even persisted through his death greater than that of the other Old Gods since the Sha were always a looming threat in Pandaria, even to his former Mantid minions.
Maybe he’s no longer be a being of the Void anymore and has ate up the ghosts of the other Old Gods to become more powerful as an actual God of Death. Meanwhile N’zoth is trying to take over the planet before anybody squashes him or else he eat up in death, an usher in Y’shaarj’s return.
Could probably explain why G’huun’s manipulation peaked during this expac, as he’s already a pseudo-old god/loa thingy. Might have gained some offhand power from Y’shaarj so that he could weaken N’zoth.
Only issue I have with this is that it villainizes Bwom and Sylvanas even more since they’re both use death magic. Would turn Bwom already has a boss that wanted to keep Vol’jin’s spirit, so maybe there is another death entity rivaling Y’shaarj, but even then Blizz is making Bwom and/or His boss out to be a bad guy.
I don’t have to explain much about how they’ve mistreated Sylvannas this expansion, but we’ve been shown the Void really wants to see her dead since she’s apparently the “True enemy”. I was hoping this meant Sylvannas was gonna use her death magic to protect the Horde against the Void Lords/Old Gods they ever come around, and maybe even the Light if the MU Naaru start to convert people like they did in AU Draenor.
Coarse I don’t expect the Alliance to be pleased to work with her like Green Jesus 2.0, which is why I advocate for the factions to save the world separately from each other, since the Alliance already have the Lightforged and Void elves that can use their powers in moderation to fight any extremists.
