she is an agent of the void and who knows what became of that void seed by now

She wasn’t protecting it. In fact she was alerting you to its presence. In BFA we destroy that flower with the Heart of Azeroth.
Merithra has been in the game since Vanilla. She was one of the three dragons C’thun had imprisoned. The others being Caelestrasz (dies in heroic BoT against Sinestra) and Arygos (dies in the Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects novel). Just because you never heard of her doesn’t mean she came out of nowhere.
Right and considering I’d never heard of her gonna take it just like Sabellian and BC she was basically left there forgotten and brought back cause nostalgia or somethin.

There have been a few characters that showed up in earlier games / expansions and reappear later on. I mean it took until MoP for Chen to reappear following WC3:TFT. Even though you saw some of his kegs in the Barrens in vanilla.

During the questchain for the Cruicble of flame essence, you fight a giant void creature in the same place as the post Xavius encounter area. Afterwards you can go into the cave and destroy the flower. It gives you a grey item.

Welp good thing she’s not dead then and all we need to do is finish what Sylvanas started 
Ysera still is kind of. She only has limited time in the mortal plane before she has to go back to Ardenweald. At which point Malfurion will be cast back to the mortal plane where he belongs.
Yuh as per why we finish what Sylvanas started 
Next expansion Anduin Lothar is coming back
But Sylvanas didn’t kill Ysera. We did after Xavius corrupted her with the corrupted Tears of Elune. So how can we finish something Sylvanas never started in the first place?
He already has in Legion. Mainly Return to Karazhan with the ‘flashbacks’ at happen after certain encounters.
It’s called use the creation engine thingy or whatever to fix the Shadowlands
By retconning all of it and letting Ysera come back in her own time from the Emerald Dream and not be in some dumb seed

at the very end when you go to the emerald dream head to the big tree in the lake and have a look around you shuld see a gost forum of ysera and she will leed you to a cave in the tree
